This week, the Trump administration announced that it had captured one of the alleged actors in the Benghazi attack that resulted in the death of four Americans.
That would be the third terrorist captured, the first in eight years, and the second captured by the Trump administration.
And if we are to believe U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, there will be more to come.
In August 2013, then-President Barack Obama announced that there was a sealed indictment regarding the Benghazi attack.
At the time, he stated, "[W]e have informed, I think, the public that there's a sealed indictment.”
He continued, "It's sealed for a reason. But we are intent on capturing those who carried out this attack, and we're going to stay on it until we get them."
The media was shocked that Obama had admitted as much, because it is against the law to reveal that a sealed indictment even exists, with a penalty of contempt that could result in six months in jail, but I guess Obama figured he was above the law.
It was just announced by the DOJ that “Zubayar Al-Bakoush, an armed coconspirator in the 2012 attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya,” had been arrested and charged. L
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated, “The terrorist attack on our Benghazi Embassy was a dark and tragic day for our nation that robbed us of four American heroes. Now, thanks to our brave federal agents, one of its alleged key participants will be prosecuted in an American courtroom on American soil.”
She continued, “Under President Trump’s leadership, this Department of Justice will never rest in our mission to Make America Safe Again and deliver swift, severe justice to our enemies.”
The first arrest, Ahmed Abu Khattala, was made in 2014. A Washington jury somehow acquitted him on 14 of the 18 charges he faced, but he was still sentenced to 22 years in what the judge described as property crimes. That sentence was later overturned, and he was sentenced to 28 years. The second took place during Trump’s first term, when Mustafa al-Imam was apprehended in 2017, and he was convicted in 2019.
Pirro appears ready to remain on the hunt, telling the terrorists directly, “We’re coming for you now. We’ve got him. We’ve got a lot more coming.”
Then she unloaded on Obama, stating, “The president said we did everything we could. They didn’t do everything they could. Americans watched in horror as four Americans are being killed, not by peaceful protests that went awry.”
I don’t care what anyone says about this DOJ, and believe me, I have had my share of complaints; they have taken some very big and very bad names off the board.
I still think Bondi could be in Trump’s crosshairs at some point over the Epstein files, but Kash Patel is creating quite the legacy while Democrats still insist he is unqualified for the position. I may not have supported his nomination, but show me a previous director in modern history who has caught this many significant bad guys in their first year at the helm.
