As we stated in our last report, Minnesota has just become a center of national attention because of a massive fraud problem in the state.
The Small Business Administration (SBA) just announced that it was cutting off funding to the state until the issues are resolved.
Now, FBI Director Kash Patel has announced that he is sending significant resources into the area to investigate the scope of the fraud.
I won’t go into detail about the recent investigation conducted by Nick Shirley again, but I do want to reference the fact that in just one day, he exposed nearly a dozen enterprises in Minnesota that appear to be blatant fronts for fraud.
In some of these buildings, more than a dozen so-called businesses were operating, all of which appear to be owned by Somali immigrants.
I am just wondering how local government officials never realized that this level of fraud was taking place.
Not only that, but Shirley made his video with the help of a local whistleblower who has been ignored and allegedly threatened by these businesses for daring to ask questions about why children’s day care centers have no children in them, even though they are collecting millions of taxpayer dollars every year.
With all the attention that Shirley’s video is getting, Gov. Tim Walz’s office has been overwhelmed with phone calls about the fraud.
His office responded, "The governor has worked for years to crack down on fraud and ask the state legislature for more authority to take aggressive action.”
It continued, "He has strengthened oversight — including launching investigations into these specific facilities, one of which was already closed."
The governor's office also stated that Walz "hired an outside firm to audit payments to high-risk programs, shut down the Housing Stabilization Services program entirely, announced a new statewide program integrity director, and supported criminal prosecutions." Well, did it come to this, and why wasn’t anyone monitoring the spending all along?
Patel is now shifting federal assets into the area to investigate the fraud that was and likely still is taking place in the state.
He posted to X, "The FBI believes this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. We will continue to follow the money and protect children, and this investigation very much remains ongoing.”
Patel continued, "Furthermore, many are also being referred to immigration officials for possible further denaturalization and deportation proceedings where eligible."
I have seen reports of the same thing taking place in other states that have large Somali communities, but I doubt that it is limited to only those communities. Believe me, if we dig into every state, I would wager that these grants are being abused everywhere. It just goes to show you that DOGE barely scratched the surface of wasteful spending in this country.
