Democrats are always the first to say that words have consequences. Yet, when their words are the ones being questioned, they get their backs up and try to portray conservatives as manipulating the context or creating a conspiracy theory.
Former FBI Director James Comey has had an axe to grind with Donald Trump for years, but he went way too far with his recent “86 47” social media gambit, and current FBI Director Kash Patel has linked that post to the latest threat made against the president.
Comey has been around the block a few times, yet he wants everyone to think that he had no idea what the code “86” meant when he made his Instagram post of a group of seashells he allegedly just came across while strolling on the beach, arranged in the formation that spelled "86 47."
As someone with an extensive F&B background, I can tell you that we used that term to “kill” a menu item once we ran out of it on the line.
I also have a considerable number of law enforcement and military friends, all of whom have used the term “86” to literally mean to end someone, such as, “We had to 86 those guys before they approached our position.”
Point being, with his background and experience, there is little chance that Comey was unaware of what that phrase meant. Yet, he insisted he had no idea that that term could be interpreted that way.
Another reason not to believe Comey is that this is far from the first time he has used shells on the beach to offer a message to his followers on social media.
For instance, during the 2024 election cycle, Comey magically came upon a shell with the message “Vote Harris” painted on it.
So, either Comey has a neighbor on his beach who is fond of painting liberal-oriented messages and leaving them behind for people to discover, or the former FBI chief is too cowardly to come forward and make a stance about his own political beliefs.
I, for one, will choose the latter, simply because Comey comes off as someone who always thinks he is the smartest person in the room, and we all know how that usually works out.
In terms of the latest threat against Trump, the accused perpetrator, former Coast Guard officer Peter Stinson, who served this country for more than a decade, referenced the “86 47” message in his comments about the president.
Patel confirmed, "This is a guy who threatened President Trump’s life using the ‘86 47’ language.” He continued, "When former Director Comey first pulled his destructive Instagram stunt, it forced the FBI to pull numerous agents off of critical portfolios, taking key personnel away from important initiatives protecting the American people to deal with an overwhelming number of copycats following Comey’s lead and posting threatening messages against the president of the United States.”
Comey’s defense is gaslighting at its finest, as I firmly believe there is a contingent of Democrat officials, both past and present, who are trying to plant seeds of chaos among their supporters. That party thrives on chaos to seek control.
We are seeing this play out in real time today, as Democrats call Trump a “modern-day Hitler” and refer to ICE agents as a “modern-day Gestapo." These are not terms you use if you are looking to create unity.
Disagreeing with policy is fine, but using trigger words such as this is specifically meant to provoke a reaction, and Dems are getting that response with riots and threats against the president of the United States.
