South Park makes its money by hitting relevant social issues in a comedic way.
Nobody is safe from the writers, as they have hit both sides of the political aisle and everything in between.
For most, it is a coming-of-age, and they laugh it off, but Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Noem took issue with how she was portrayed during a recent episode.
Before we get started on Noem, this show has gone after other conservative figures in the past, and they have generally laughed it off.
For instance, conservative pundit Glenn Beck was portrayed by Cartman in a show, taking over the school’s daily announcements, railing against the “socialist” regime that had taken over the student government.
Charlie Kirk, another conservative pundit, was also recently portrayed on the show.
Both individuals laughed off the pieces, almost taking them as a badge of honor that the show saw fit to roast them.
Noem picked up the moniker as “ICE Barbie” after showing up at several raids dressed to the nines, wearing her bling, with makeup and hair done.
Noem loves the media, and she was clearly using these raids as photo ops, but that is more or less the job of the director.
Noem was trying to get the public on the side of the administration in regard to these raids, and this was her plan to show the American people how her DHS differentiated from the department under the guidance of Secretary Mayorkas during the Biden administration.
At first, she seemed to embrace the image, but that is surely not the case now.
It’s a cartoon, so of course her body features are going to be exaggerated, and the artists went to town overplaying the ICE Barbie narrative, which Noem took exception to.
After the episode aired, she threw a fit, stating, “It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look.”
She continued, “It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t, they just pick something petty like that.”
Honestly, I don’t have a problem with it, and I think Noem needs to get thicker skin. Whining about body shaming or anything in that realm is a leftist thing, not a conservative thing. By whining about it, all she is doing is giving the episode more juice, which will now likely turn into a GIF factory. Laugh it off, Kristi, and just thank them for bringing attention to the immigration problems this country faces, and they go away. Now, all she did was guarantee that the exaggerated ICE Barbie will make a return appearance on “South Park.”
