Nicki Minaj deletes Instagram account after TPUSA appearance

The sad reality in today’s world is that any member of a minority group who is even remotely attached to Donald Trump or any conservative organization is going to be ridiculed and abused online.

That is exactly what happened to rapper and reality TV star Nicki Minaj after she appeared at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event with Erika Kirk and complimented Trump.

After Minaj lost nearly 10 million followers and was blasted by trolls, she deleted her Instagram account, at least for now. And she is far from the first person to experience this unfortunate phenomenon.

Saquon Barkley

Now, I have often criticized sports stars and entertainers for preaching politics at events, but I couldn't care less about what they do in their private lives. For instance, I would not disown Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars for attending a liberal rally on his own time, but I just don’t want to hear about it during the games.

To that point, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was invited to play golf with President Trump this year at his Bedminster, NJ, club, and he accepted.

Afterward, his social media account started blowing up from trolls. Barkley, however, was unfazed.

He eventually responded, “lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.”

Kim Kardashian gets significant blowback… again

Kardashian was very involved with the Trump administration during the president's first term, even working with him on criminal justice reform programs.

She got a taste of the aforementioned brand of outrage when she posted a picture of herself with Ivanka Trump ahead of the election, but nothing like what she just got for posting a picture of Melania Trump at the inauguration.

After the picture was posted in Kim’s stories, one troll responded, “idk why i still followed kim kardashian honestly but her posting a pic of melania at the inauguration on her story was like immediate unfollow bye.”

That is the danger of doing anything remotely conservative when you have a largely liberal fanbase, as Minaj just found out.

Deleted

Minaj made the mistake of appearing at AmericaFest this past weekend, which is a TPUSA event that was hosted in Arizona.

Not only did she appear on stage with Erika Kirk, but she also told the young men in the crowd that they need to be more like the “handsome, dashing” President Trump.

After her appearance, roughly 10 million followers left her account, which Minaj then deleted. Now, when you consider that she makes about $1 million per year off of social media, that is a pretty big blow to her income potential.

Minaj has deleted her account before, taking breaks from social media, and I would expect her to return at some point, albeit shy of at least 10 million followers. It all just seems silly to me that people take all of this so seriously to blacklist someone they enjoy following or listening to. If I did that, I would be sitting in a quiet house and never watch sports again.
