Christy Knowings, who joined the cast of Nickelodeon's "All That" in 1997 and later appeared on Sesame Street, has reportedly died at 46 after an asthma attack caused brain damage, her family removing life support after a four-day hospitalization.

NewsNation reported that Knowings suffered an asthma attack in August 2026 that led to brain damage. She was hospitalized for four days before her family made the decision to remove life support. TMZ first reported the circumstances of her hospitalization and her family's decision.

Knowings was 46. No hospital name, city, or state has been publicly identified, and no family members have been named or quoted in available reporting. The word "reportedly" in early accounts suggests the death had not been officially confirmed at the time of publication.

Three seasons on "All That" alongside future household names

"All That" ran on Nickelodeon for ten seasons, from 1994 to 2005. Knowings joined the sketch-comedy show's cast in 1997 and appeared across three of those seasons. The show, a kids' answer to "Saturday Night Live", also featured Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, and Jamie Lynn Spears at various points during its run.

Thompson went on to become the longest-tenured cast member in "Saturday Night Live" history. Bynes became a major film star before stepping away from Hollywood. Cannon built a career as a host, actor, and producer. The show served as a launchpad for an unusual concentration of talent in children's television.

Knowings credited "All That" for its commitment to diversity, though the specific context of that statement was not detailed in reporting.

From Nickelodeon to Sesame Street and a folk music turn

After her run on "All That," Knowings appeared in several episodes of Sesame Street. The move kept her in children's programming but on a different network and in a different format, educational television rather than sketch comedy.

She also pursued music. In 2020, Knowings released a folk song, though its title has not been reported. The pivot from acting to music was a quieter chapter, far from the Nickelodeon spotlight that first made her name recognizable.

Knowings' death adds her name to a list of young performers from 1990s children's television who have faced serious health struggles or died young. For viewers who grew up watching "All That" after school, the loss is personal in the way only a childhood fixture can be.

Forty-six is no age to lose anyone, least of all to a condition as common and manageable as asthma, which makes the outcome all the harder to absorb.
