Nick Shirley's entire world has undergone a significant change over the last week or so.
Shirley posted a YouTube video to expose the alleged fraud plaguing Minnesota’s daycare and healthcare system.
Now, Shirley claims he is receiving death threats over his reporting.
It was not long after Shirley's explosive video went viral that it was immediately challenged by leftist outlets and several mainstream media news agencies.
CNN tried to debunk the report, but when only one of the businesses it attempted to contact answered the phone, the liberal network's effort essentially backfired.
CBS News did a more in-depth report, but it, too, came up a bit short in terms of debunking Shirley’s claims, but it did poke a few holes in it.
Numerous leftist blogs also took a shot at the video, including one on Substack, claiming that the entire exposé was a farce.
One of the centers visited by Shirley then claimed that the facility had been broken into, vandalized, and had all of its relevant records stolen. (CORRECTION: The center in question is Somali-owned, but it was NOT visited by Shirley in the video.)
Manager Nasrulah Mohamed of the Nokomis Daycare Center claimed, “We saw that, unfortunately we saw that there was important documentation, enrollment of the children and also employee documentation that was gone. There were also checkbooks that were ripped from our, check papers that were from our book.”
He added, “This is devastating news and we don’t know why this is targeting our Somali community as one video made by a specific individual made this all happen. We’ve been receiving hateful messages through our voice notes threatening us since the past couple of days including one that happened yesterday morning when the break-in, after the break-in.”
Police are investigating the claims, and we will have more on the situation in a report later today.
Shirley is now claiming that he is being targeted, with his harassers suggesting that he will be “Kirked,” a clear reference to the assassination of conservative podcaster and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk.
He stated, "They are saying, like, ‘Kirked — you’re going to be Kirked. You’re going to be Kirked.’ That’s what they’re saying — like, you’re next. You’ll be the next [Charlie] Kirk.”
Shirley has been tagged by the media as a right-wing independent journalist, but he claims no political allegiance, stating that he was simply trying to report on the fraud problems in Minnesota. And for the record, a piece that first brought the growing scandal to national prominence was published in The New York Times.
Threats of any kind need to stop on both sides. Any conservative threatening Somalis is not doing the movement a favor. Expose any fraud, prosecute those responsible, and enforce existing immigration laws… that is how this needs to be handled. As far as Shirley goes, he clearly upset the apple cart on the left, so they are undoubtedly going to come after him. He should have known that when he made his report. For his sake, I hope they are empty threats because this political violence in this country is quickly becoming a runaway train.
