California Gov. Gavin Newsom is obsessed with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Since Trump has been in office, Newsom has replicated Trump’s online persona, fought the president every step of the way, and endlessly trolled the administration on social media.
His obsession has become so ridiculous that he recently fell into a trap of pushing a fake news story about Vance.
Newsom decided to turn himself into Trump on social media in an effort to raise his own profile, and sadly, it worked, as the left seemed to eat it up.
For instance, in one post on X, he wrote, “NOT EVEN JD ‘JUST DANCE VANCE CAN SAVE TRUMP FROM THE DISASTROUS MAPS ‘WAR’ HE HAS STARTED. NOT EVEN HIS EYELINER LINES LOOK AS PRETTY AS CALIFORNIA ‘MAP’ LINES.”
The post continued, “HE WILL FAIL, AS HE ALWAYS DOES (SAD!) AND I, THE PEACETIME GOVERNOR — OUR NATION’S FAVORITE -- WILL SAVE AMERICA ONCE AGAIN. MANY ARE NOW CALLING ME GAVIN CHRISTOPHER ‘COLUMBUS’ NEWSOM (BECAUSE OF THE MAPS!). THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. -- GCN”
This was Trump 101 when it comes to online posts. Using all caps, assigning people stupid nicknames, saying that “many” people are saying something about him, and the initial sign-off on the message are the president's hallmarks. It was stupid, but the liberal horde loved it, and Newsom soared to the top of trending social media profiles.
Newsom has also tried to cripple the administration by litigating anything and everything he can.
He has fought Trump on ICE operations, on National Guard deployment, and on just about every other issue you can imagine.
Newsom’s big move, however, was his push to redo the California districting maps to match the move by Texas to redraw its lines.
In one breath, Newsom said that Texas was breaking the law, and in the next, he said he was going to gerrymander his maps, and now Democrats are advertising the fact.
Like the mainstream media, Newsom’s main goal when it comes to all things Trump and his administration is to be first with the story, damn the facts.
That was the case when Newsom jumped all over a report that the administration was going to shut down a highway for Vance to celebrate the upcoming birthday of the Marine Corps. He posted, “This would be an absurd show of force, and totally uncalled for during a government shutdown when members of the military cannot even get a paycheck.” Newsom later doubled down on the fake news, posting, “Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down the I-5 to shoot out missiles from ships is how you respect the military. PUT ASIDE YOUR VANITY PARADE AND PAY OUR TROOPS INSTEAD.”
The only problem with Newsom's strategy was that the entire report was made up, which Vance was more than happy to let him know. Vance’s office responded, “This is complete fake news. The Marine Corps said they are NOT shutting down the I-5 highway and that the event at Camp Pendleton is a training exercise. Also, President Trump IS paying the troops despite Chuck Schumer’s efforts to hold their salaries hostage.”
The Marine Corps has confirmed that Newsom’s version is fake news via a press release, explaining details of the exercise in full, and also confirming there will be no closures related to the event. The facts matter little, however, as I have already heard people talking about Vance shutting down highways to pat himself on the back for previously having served in the Marines. So, as usual, the first report, the fake report, gets all the juice, and the actual truth gets nothing. Just the way Democrats like it.
