Newsom appears to issue threat against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem

The best thing to happen to the political career of California Gov. Gavin Newsom was the election of Donald Trump.

Trump's presence in the White House has enabled Newsom to play the tough guy as the leader of the resistance against the bad orange man.

Newsom has been ramping up his rhetoric, and he may have just taken it way over the line in what appears to be a blatant threat against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, or at least that is how she perceived his words.

Trolling Trump

Newsom really started to catch fire when he began to troll Trump by mimicking his social media style in posts on X.

The governor started using silly nicknames and typing in all CAPS, just as Trump does in his posts, and the left ate it right up.

This was also taking place while fights over congressional redistricting were top of mind, so all of a sudden, Newsom was seen as something of a savior for the Democratic Party.

While all this was taking place, Kamala Harris started to slip in polling for a potential 2028 presidential run, and Newsom started to soar, even leading among California voters, which is not a good sign of things to come for the former VP.

Banning ICE

Newsom crossed a line with law enforcement after backing legislation in California that would make it illegal for most agents to wear masks during operations. Masks are used as a means to protect undercover agents -- and their families -- who could wind up facing threats due to the nature of their work.

The Newsom-endorsed law will be challenged (it is set to take effect in January), but the governor took advantage of its passage to keep his tough-guy image rolling.

He stated, "Unmarked cars, people in masks, people quite literally disappearing, no due process, no rights. I'll be signing a bill, the first in the nation, saying, ‘Enough, ICE, unmask, what are you afraid of?'"

California-based attorney Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, believes that Trump will ultimately win this legal battle, explaining, "You have the state imposing restrictions on the federal government, and those restrictions can really unduly interfere with their law enforcement functions, right? The state is saying that unmasking these federal officials is necessary to restore public trust, but really it's a safety issue, right? They can be doxed. Their families can be put at risk, so I can easily see this specific regulation being struck down by the courts."

Cryptic post

On the heels of Charlie Kirk's assassination, Newsom, while referencing the mask ban, thought it wise to post, “Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America.”

Noem called the post “menacing,” saying it panicked her family and friends, and I can see why. She continued, “So you know, this is a day and age where we’ve always known that words matter, but there’s been real consequences that we have realized that have happened to incredible people like Charlie [Kirk] that we’ll have to live with forever, and I hope we all learn from that.”

U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli added, “We have zero tolerance for direct or implicit threats against government officials. I’ve referred this matter to @SecretService and requested a full threat assessment.”

What if some lunatic acts on Newsom’s post and goes after Noem, thinking they are doing the governor's dirty work for him? How could Newsom ever have thought that posting something like that was smart? As I have stated time and again, try to tell me Dems are not hoping for violence, because it seems pretty clear to me that is exactly what they are encouraging right now.
