The feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk ruined what was a noteworthy bromance, but it could be back on, at least in terms of Musk and the broader GOP.
Musk has recently been reposting and making positive comments about Trump’s online comments and policy moves.
Now, the tech billionaire appears ready to partner up with JD Vance on attacking Democrats and their “big lie” about violent crime.
There is no need to recap the entire feud between Trump and Musk, so I want to concentrate on what happened after the fact.
Musk made some rather outrageous comments about Trump after the breakup, but he did later say that he had taken things too far.
On June 11, he had posted an apology of sorts, stating, “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”
There was still some back and forth, but for the most part, this was the end of it.
Musk had threatened to start a third political party during this little spat, but his actions appeared to lean toward the direction of backing down from that threat.
A report in the Wall Street Journal then appeared that Musk had halted the third-party discussions, but he later pushed back.
He responded, "Nothing [The Journal] says should ever be thought of as true.”
Even so, it was later reported that Musk had donated some money to some conservative PACs and candidates, and I had even posted that I thought the third-party idea was dead in the water.
Throughout all of this, there were also reports that Musk wanted to partner with Vance, looking forward to 2028, but the VP denied those reports.
Vance recently posted to X, "The big lie the Democrats told about violent crime is that it's ‘systemic’ and therefore no one's really responsible. If the ‘system’ is to blame then you fund a bunch of nonprofits that don't do anything besides give jobs to underqualified radicals. The reality is that the gross majority of violent crime is committed by a very small group of people and we should be throwing them in prison."
Musk responded to the post, “Yes. What it comes down to is this: Do you have more sympathy for those highly likely to commit murder or more for those at risk of being murdered? If the former, you are a disgusting human being and yet so many on the radical left choose this!”
If the GOP is going to win in 2026 and 2028, it is going to need Elon’s money. Vance is the obvious heir apparent to MAGA, so his reaching out in this manner to the VP makes a lot of sense to me. At this point, Vance is more important to Musk in terms of the future, so don’t be surprised to see these two together in the months to come.
