Early voting has started in New York City's mayoral election, and voters will head to the polls next week to decide whether they will turn their city over to socialist Zohran Mamdani, to a polarizing former governor named Andrew Cuomo, or to a subway vigilante named Curtis Sliwa (not exactly a great slate of choices).
With Mamdani still dominating three-way polls, money is now pouring into the election as billionaires are making one last-ditch effort to appeal to the undecided voters, who were still significant in number after the final debate.
Mamdani himself has a rather extensive network of funders, however, and you will not be surprised to find out that George Soros’ money is finding its way into his campaign coffers.
Mamdani has made it quite clear that he will raise taxes on New York City’s richest residents, and they are not taking it kindly, with only a week away from the election.
With the choice coming down to fleeing the city or paying the increased taxes, the city’s richest are now pouring money into pro-Cuomo groups, hoping it will make a difference in elevating his numbers above Mamdani's in the vote total.
For example, between Fix the City and Defend NYC, nearly $10 million has been raised to try to defeat Mamdani in this race.
Some of the donors have been identified, such as Joe Gebbia, a co-founder of Airbnb, Bill Ackman, the CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, Ronald Lauder, whose parents founded the Estée Lauder Companies, and Steve Wynn, the casino mogul, just to name a few. My only questions to them would be what took them so long, and why didn’t they work this hard to defeat Mamdani in the primary?
This weekend, all the big names of the progressive party flocked to New York City to rally for Mamdani as early voting opened up (to record numbers, mind you).
The headliners were none other than Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Both Sanders and AOC were greeted emphatically by the young, progressive crowd that appears to be very excited about all the freebies that Mamdani is offering on his platform.
Sanders told the crowd, "As mayor, he will not run a top-down, billionaire-funded, consultant-driven administration. Instead, Zohran will be a champion for the working people of New York.”
AOC added, "That we are all here, in this moment, during this time is not a coincidence, and it is also not a coincidence that both of the visionary forces that Zohran is up against in this race mirrors what we are up against nationally, both an authoritarian criminal presidency, fueled by corruption and bigotry and an ascendant right-wing extremist movement.”
When we started to really dig into Mamdani's past, it was no surprise that his rise in popularity was not a chance event, but an engineered plan by some of the biggest names and moneymen on the far left.
Fox News released a report revealing that of the 110 groups backing Mamdani, many of these groups were identified as “Muslim or socialist, working hand-in-glove with 76 Democratic Party affiliates, allied groups and unions. Particularly important in this political machine are two networks -- Sarsour’s MPower organizations and another constellation of groups called Emgage.”
And, of course, they lead back to Soros, at least in part, as his Open Society groups have reportedly donated nearly $2.5 million to MPower and Emgage. Open Society, of course, denies the link, responding, "We fund a range of civil society organizations that work to deepen civic engagement through peaceful democratic participation, counter discrimination including against Muslim Americans and advance human rights. The grants that you cite all occurred years before the mayoral race, and we are a nonpartisan organization that does not fund political candidates and their campaigns."
They make it sound as though the money is not capable of sitting in the bank for just such an occasion. Infiltrate from within… that has always been the best way to take an enemy down. And make no mistake about it, to people like AOC, Mamdani, Sanders, and Soros, our Constitution and our Founding Fathers are the enemies, as they seek to dramatically undermine the very foundation of this country.
