Things are starting to get interesting on mainstream media for Democrats, as the media is finally starting to call out blatant lies and the twisting of facts on live TV.
They are still falling short of hitting them with tough follow-up questions, but things are getting better.
My guess here is that the recent shakeups in the media are starting to hit too close to home, and people like Jake Tapper realize they need to get their reporting back on track.
First up is Jake Tapper on CNN, who called out Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) for railing about funding being held up because of the shutdown.
As she tried to put the entirety of the blame on Republicans, Tapper shot back, "Congresswoman, this is also a choice by Senate Democrats to not vote to open the government."
When she pointed to the contingency fund of about $5 billion that could be used, Tapper again pointed out that it is not even enough to cover one month of SNAP benefits. Not to mention, the USDA has already stated that, legally, it cannot access those funds for a government shutdown.
As she continued to rail, Tapper continued to push back, even telling her that the funding is only a “short-term solution” rather than signing the continuing resolution (CR) to fund the program fully.
CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins is up next, as there seems to have been a directive given from above at the network to stop allowing Democrats to spew lies on air during interviews.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) took a comment made by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt out of context, and Collins, for once, had no problem pointing it out on air.
Here is the interview, as they address this isssue right out of the gate in the interview. After that, however, she reverts back to letting Crockett rant endlessly...
Did you see how dumfounded Crockett looked when she was corrected, as she clearly never expected any pushback from CNN?
There was also a major shakeup on CBS, as several co-hosts on CBS Saturday Morning were just let go.
Co-anchors Michelle Miller, Dana Jacobson, and the show’s executive producer Brian Applegate were reportedly informed that they are being cut, as is their show, which reportedly did not make economic sense.
This all comes after a leadership change from Paramount at the network, with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and the network’s president, Tom Cibrowski, now making wholesale changes.
It would seem that poor ratings are finally starting to register with network executives, and the anti-Trump narrative that has been dominating mainstream media over the last decade is just not profitable. It seems like you do better when you actually give people an honest report… imagine that!
