Four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment are separate from the Florida allegations that triggered Duggar's arrest earlier in the week. The case centers on allegations that Duggar molested a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. The girl, now 14, disclosed the abuse to investigators during a forensic interview. That disclosure set off a chain of events that landed Duggar in a Washington County jail cell and put his wife in handcuffs the same day.

The Florida charges

Bay County Sheriff's Office in Florida charged Duggar with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior by a person 18 or older. Fox News Digital reported that an arrest affidavit from the sheriff's office described the allegations in graphic terms.

A press release from the Bay County Sheriff's Office stated:

"Duggar manipulated the victim's underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs."

The victim's father confronted Duggar about the alleged crimes on Tuesday. Authorities say Duggar admitted to what he had done, first to the father, then to police when interviewed. The Washington Times reported that Duggar admitted his actions to both the father and Tontitown detectives.

He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 19.

Extradition waived, new charges stacked

Duggar appeared in an Arkansas court Friday morning and waived his right to an extradition hearing. That means he will be transferred to Florida within 30 days to face the molestation charges there. But before he left the courtroom, prosecutors piled on the eight new Arkansas counts.

Amy Duggar King praised the alleged victim's courage and then turned her fire on the family culture that she believes enabled abuse.

"I am not surprised that another alleged predator has emerged from this toxic system. For years, I have spoken out about the importance of truth, accountability and protecting children, even when it meant going against my own family. Family ties should never equal automatic trust or access, especially when it comes to the safety of children."

She added that she was praying for Kendra "as she begins to process this" and for the protection of the couple's children, while calling for justice "to the fullest."

Joseph's sister, Jill Duggar Dillard, posted a statement on her family blog Thursday. The blog referenced a confession involving the molestation of a juvenile female in 2020. Josh Duggar, speaking through his attorney to the Daily Mail as cited by Fox News Digital, said the allegations against his brother are not true.
