Jill Biden’s top adviser goes MIA

This week, the House Oversight Committee has called former Biden officials to testify regarding Joe Biden’s mental decline.

Anthony Bernal, who was more or less Jill Biden’s right-hand man, as well as someone who is considered one of the people behind the curtain during Biden’s administration, has defied the committee’s request for his appearance.

Now that Donald Trump lifted presidential immunity protections, it does appear that Bernal is running for cover.

Who is Anthony Bernal?

Unless you are a political junkie, the name Anthony Bernal may not mean much to you.

This man was a longtime confidant of Jill Biden, and he was tied to a mini-scandal when Joe Biden was in office, accused of having created a toxic workplace.

Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden’s former press secretary, shed some light on Bernal’s presence in the administration, explaining, "No one spent more time, whether it was in the motorcade, on the plane, in the private residence at the White House, Camp David, and at both houses in Delaware, nobody spent more personal time around them and their family and the Biden family than Anthony.”

He went on to say he was considered "indispensable" by the Bidens and considered his top priority "protecting the Bidens.”

Protections crumble

As the committee was sending out letters to former Biden officials to appear, the White House pulled back executive privilege that would have provided some cover for them.

Deputy counsel to the president, Gary Lawkowski, issued the relevant letter to concerned parties.

It, in part, stated, "In light of the unique and extraordinary nature of the matters under investigation, President Trump has determined that an assertion of executive privilege is not in the national interest, and therefore is not justified, with respect to particular subjects within the purview of the House Oversight Committee."

The letter continued, "Those subjects include your assessment of former President Biden's fitness for the office of the President and your knowledge of who exercised executive powers during his administration."

Running for cover

While many of the former officials have agreed to appear, Bernal has refused, which resulted in Oversight chairman Comer (R-KY) unloading on Bernal.

He stated, "Now that the White House has waived executive privilege, it’s abundantly clear that Anthony Bernal -- Jill Biden’s so-called ‘work husband’ -- never intended to be transparent about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and the ensuing cover-up."

Comer went on, "With no privilege left to hide behind, Mr. Bernal is now running scared, desperate to bury the truth. The American people deserve answers and accountability, and the Oversight Committee will not tolerate this obstruction."

One would think that Bernal would want to clear Joe Biden of these allegations, but with the widespread belief that Bernal was among the key shot callers in the administration and implicit in the cover-up of the then-president's mental decline, it now appears that he is terrified to go under oath before the committee. This, my friends, is starting to get a little spicy!
