James Carville has a message for Rep. Ilhan Omar: get out. The veteran Democratic strategist doubled down on his call for the Minnesota congresswoman to leave the Democratic Party, after what he described as her attacks on White males, during a Wednesday appearance on SiriusXM's "Straight Shooter with Stephen A."
Carville didn't mince words. He laid out the electoral math and told Omar that alienating a third of the electorate isn't a strategy. It's suicide.
When host Stephen A. Smith asked Carville about a resurfaced clip from May 2025 in which he had challenged Omar to leave the party and start her own, Carville didn't walk anything back. He leaned in harder, armed with numbers.
In 2024, 72% of the people that voted were White. All right? That's just a fact. Of that, 72, probably 48% or 48 and a half, were male.
The conclusion was simple arithmetic:
About 33% of the people that are gonna vote are gonna be White males. Well, it's stupid to attack 33% of the voters!
There's something almost refreshing about watching a lifelong Democratic operative state the obvious. The party that claims to be guided by science and data has spent years treating its largest single voting demographic as an acceptable target. Carville, whatever else you think of him, can still count.
Carville went beyond criticizing Omar's rhetoric. He offered her an exit ramp, though one suspects she has no intention of taking it.
And so what I would say to Congresswoman Omar, 'Why don't you be a Democratic Socialist of America?' Do what AOC did, and then if they win, the truth of that is, I share a lot of ideological issues in common with Congressman Omar, but maybe you should do like a parliamentary government. We'll let you in the governing coalition, but not the electoral coalition.
Read that carefully. Carville is essentially proposing a divorce. He wants the progressive wing to stop dragging the party's brand into unwinnable fights while still collecting its votes on the back end. It's a cynical arrangement, and it reveals just how deep the fracture runs inside the Democratic coalition.
The fact that a party elder has to publicly beg one of his own members to stop alienating voters tells you everything about where Democrats stand right now.
Carville escalated his language as the conversation continued, calling the idea that Democrats can win without White male voters not just a bad strategy but delusional:
But we cannot- we have to get this mentality out that we can win national elections without White people, because you can't.
That we can somehow or another win an election without White males. It's just insanity. It's literally mathematical insanity, cultural insanity.
He's right on the math. Whether he's right that his party will listen is another question entirely.
The Democratic Party has spent the better part of a decade building an identity framework that sorts Americans into racial and gender categories, then ranks them by grievance. White males landed at the bottom of that hierarchy. Now, a strategist who helped elect Bill Clinton is screaming into the void that you cannot build a winning coalition by telling a third of the electorate they're the problem.
What makes Carville's plea so revealing is the trap it exposes. The modern progressive left insists on viewing politics through the lens of group identity. Every policy, every message, every campaign is filtered through race, gender, and intersectional ranking. But the moment someone like Carville applies that same lens to point out that White men are, in fact, a massive voting bloc, he becomes the heretic.
Carville himself seemed to sense the tension. He pushed back against the very framework his party built:
All White people are not the same. All Black people are not the same. All Hispanic people are not the same, all right?
And I don't like generalizing about someone's gender or their race or their sexual preference or anything else. All gay people are not the same. They're very different personalities. They're very different values, very different everything.
Conservatives have been making this exact argument for years. Treat people as individuals, not as demographic tiles in a coalition mosaic. It's striking to hear it from Carville, not because the insight is new, but because it confirms what the right has diagnosed all along: identity politics is a dead end, and even the people who helped build the machine are starting to admit it.
Fox News Digital reached out to Rep. Omar for comment and did not receive an immediate reply. The silence is notable, though not surprising. Omar has never shown much interest in moderating her rhetoric to win over voters outside her ideological base. Minneapolis sends her back every cycle regardless.
Carville's frustration is genuine. His analysis is correct. And none of it will matter. The progressive wing of the Democratic Party is not driven by electoral math. It is driven by ideology. Omar doesn't attack White males because she miscounted the electorate. She does it because the worldview she operates from demands it.
Carville can read the spreadsheet all day long. The people he's lecturing aren't looking at spreadsheets. They're looking at a moral framework in which certain groups are permanently guilty and others permanently aggrieved, and no amount of arithmetic changes the catechism.
The Democratic Party's problem isn't that it can't do math. It's that it built a religion, and James Carville is trying to fact-check the sermon.
