Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has been a polarizing figure ever since she first took office.
She is a key member of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's House "Squad," and she often puts out virulent anti-Israel sentiments.
Now, Omar is taking big hits because her finances have been linked to donations of money to anti-Israel non-profit reportedly connected to a “terrorist university.”
Omar was put on everyone’s radar when she had appeared at a pro-Muslim event and issued comments perceived to be a belittling of the terror attacks against our nation on 9/11.
Her “some people did some things” comment went viral, and Omar was immediately put on the defensive.
After the fact, she tried to recover, telling Face the Nation, "9/11 was an attack on all Americans. It was an attack on all of us. And I certainly could not understand the weight of the pain that the victims of the families of 9/11 must feel. But I think it is really important for us to make sure that we are not forgetting, right, the aftermath of what happened after 9/11."
She continued, "Many Americans found themselves now having their civil rights stripped from them. And so what I was speaking to was the fact that as a Muslim, not only was I suffering as an American who was attacked on that day, but the next day I woke up as my fellow Americans were now treating me a suspect."
In the immediate aftermath of the 2023 attack against Israel by Hamas, Omar came under fire again.
Rather than calling out Hamas, Omar went after Israel for its counterattack, accusing the Jewish state of committing a “war crime” for its response to more than 1,000 people, including women and children, being massacred, and more than 100 hostages being taken.
Omar further claimed that Israel had “hypnotized the world.” She then tried to defend her comments, stating, “I certainly did not or was not aware that the word ‘hypnotized’ was a trope. I wasn’t aware of the fact that there are tropes about Jews and money,” but that only seemed to make matters worse for her.
Needless to say, she is a marked woman for conservatives, who look to pounce on any issue they can as a way to have her removed from Congress.
That brings us to the latest report that Omar had donated some of her campaign funds to an anti-Israel non-profit that has ties to a school dubbed “Terrorist University.”
The school, Birzeit University, has been praised by a top Hamas official after a large block of Hamas-affiliated students won the majority of its council elections in 2023.
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) have already sent correspondence to Harvard University for not addressing concerns about its association with Birzeit, saying that it is "an institution whose student body overwhelmingly supports Hamas" and a school that "explicitly endorses a U.S. designated terrorist organization."
I just fail to understand how anyone voting in this country can see all this and not doubt Omar's allegiance to our country. But, as I have said before, when you want to fundamentally change a country or take it over, the best way to do that is from within. To that point, I believe there is a growing contingent of far-left Democrats who are doing just that, which includes people like NYC mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani, all of whom are trying to fundamentally change our cities. Call it a conspiracy theory if you want, but I think it all speaks for itself.
