The criticism of Donald Trump and his immigration policies by Hillary Clinton dates back to his first administration.
She constantly ripped Trump, then continued to do the same during this administration.
However, she recently made a rather shocking concession on immigration that I think took everyone by surprise.
In July 2019, Hillary slammed Trump for the immigration raids that were taking place at the time.
She stated, “The Trump administration is preparing sweeping raids on undocumented people as the president threatens to go against the Supreme Court and demand citizenship information through the Census.”
She continued, “Weaponized fear and bigotry are the central projects of this administration.”
These people broke the law, and some of them were illegally employed. So there is a myriad of concerns here, all of which Democrats ignore to try to score political points.
Before I get into this next point, let’s realize why we are here right now. The current situation arose because Joe Biden opened our borders and let millions of illegals enter the country.
If he does not do that, then we likely do not have this massive immigration crackdown.
Hillary pushed the same narrative regarding Minnesota as other Democrats, completely ignoring the role that the previous president, a Democrat, played in this mess.
She stated, “This crisis in Minneapolis reveals a deep moral rot at the heart of Trump’s movement.”
She continued, “’The cruelty is the point,’ as The Atlantic’s Adam Serwer memorably put it during Trump’s first term. The savagery is a feature, not a bug.”
Hillary just made a big pivot on immigration, and the GOP better be paying attention as this is likely a sign that the Democrat Party is looking to pitch a new narrative on this front.
She stated, "There is a legitimate reason to have a debate about things like migration.”
Hillary continued, "It went too far, it's been disruptive and destabilizing, and it needs to be fixed in a humane way with secure borders that don't torture and kill people and how we're going to have a strong family structure because it is at the base of civilization.”
Democrats have done nothing but defend Joe Biden to this point, but they are clearly getting the message that Americans prefer stronger border enforcement, but they don’t necessarily like what ICE is doing right now. If they pivot on this, it could be a problem for the GOP unless they get ahead of it now (and I believe that is what Homan is trying to do).
