Just about everyone in the political world thought that Kamala Harris running to become governor of California was about as solid a lock as there is.
Harris, however, stunned everyone by stating that she did not want to get back into a “broken” system just yet, and that she wanted to tour the country.
We later found that the journey she referenced is really just a book tour for her new memoir, but if social media is any indication, not too many people will be showing up for an autograph.
Harris had already been installed by many as the clear favorite in the California gubernatorial race.
This seemed like the logical step to revive her political career, which could then get her back into the presidential picture for the 2032 race.
Harris, however, had other plans, announcing that she would not be running, and, oh, by the way, she had written a book.
The former VP explained, "It was intense, high stakes and deeply personal for me and for so many of you. Since leaving office, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on those days, talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together. In essence, writing a journal that is this book, 107 Days."
After Harris announced that she would not be running, her already slipping poll numbers started to crash for the 2028 presidential race.
What was truly astonishing was that her numbers in her home state of California completely collapsed.
In the most recent primary poll, it is Gov. Gavin Newsom who is leading in the Politico poll, holding a 25-19% advantage over Harris in the Golden State.
To be blunt… If Harris cannot win the primary in her home state, she has no chance of winning the nomination. We may not see that reflected in polls just yet, but the rest of the country will feed off this, and I believe we will start to see her totally collapse in nationwide polling.
Harris posted to X that she is about to go on a 15-city tour beginning Sept. 24 to promote her new book.
I was hoping Harris could come to the DFW area to promote her new book, as I have some really serious questions I would love to surprise her with, but she is only going to liberal strongholds to sell the book.
The mocking of the book tour that ensued was truly special, as the internet trolls unleashed on her.
Deputy White House press secretary Abigail Jackson landed one of the best shots, responding, “She’s doing a tour about how she lost? Does her team have 0 self-awareness or do they just hate her? Because nothing says kicking off your 2028 campaign like a book tour about how badly you lost the last election.”
Generally speaking, a former vice president or president publishing a book is a quick road to a best-seller, but with Harris' unpopularity and the fact that his book is about a losing campaign, I cannot wait to see how it all plays out. If Harris does not get to #1, I think her political career is officially dead.
