One of the biggest challenges Donald Trump has faced during his second term is his inability to end the war between Hamas and Israel (as well as the Russia-Ukraine war).
Trump promised to have them both over on his first day, if not before he took office.
Now, it appears as though the president may finally be able to bring one of them to a conclusion.
While Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu are looking to end Hamas once and for all, some key allies have gone behind the president's back to legitimize this terror state.
It was just announced that French President Emmanuel Macron is trying to carve out a spot for himself as a true world leader.
Reports stated that Macron just led the effort to have multiple U.S. allies recognize the Palestinian State, which goes directly against Israel and Trump’s wishes. Jean-Loup Samaan, a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore’s Middle East Institute, explained, "In this specific case, Macron believes that his push for a Palestinian state will increase French credibility in the Arab world and the so-called ‘Global South.’"
The U.K., Canada, Australia, Portugal, Malta, Belgium, and Luxembourg are all expected to fall in line with France. In fact, some of them already have, and I would imagine this is going to send Trump into a hysterical rage on Truth Social. And it should, quite honestly, as these countries are literally saying it is okay to harbor terrorists on their soil.
Both Israel and the United States have been adamant about having all hostages released for a peace deal to be possible.
Reports broke earlier today that Hamas has drafted a letter proposing a 60-day cease-fire in exchange for releasing half of the remaining hostages.
Now, to be clear, this is not what Trump wanted, but it does show that Hamas is finally caving, and there is clearly a deal to be made that could bring the parties closer to a full peace agreement.
Trump recently put Hamas on notice, stating, "Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!"
After the report broke about the Hamas letter, it was then reported that Arab and Muslim leaders were planning to meet with Trump to discuss the peace deal.
While this is all great news, Israel is not taking the news of a recognized Palestinian State very well.
For instance, Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Danny Danon, called this an “embarrassing political circus,” with Israel warning that it could escalate tensions by annexing the West Bank.
I am honestly not sure which way Trump will go here. Macron knows that the president needs to get a peace deal in place, so I think he is gambling that Trump will allow the recognition of Palestine so he can get the problem off his desk, but Macron seems to be forgetting about the wild card -- Israel -- which could blow up the entire deal over the French leader's little coup for terrorism.
