For as long as I can remember, Jeffrey Epstein has been linked to Democrats, mostly via Bill Clinton and a host of powerful donors.
That narrative changed when Donald Trump and the DOJ decided not to publish the complete Epstein files.
Now, however, after a concentrated effort by Democrats to link Trump to Epstein, the GOP is calling out the left's tactics.
During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump himself seemed to support a release of all of the Epstein documents, but his tune changed once he got back into the White House.
I have stated all along that I believe when Trump saw the actual files, he realized that a lot of powerful people would be destroyed, so he decided to keep them hidden rather than blow up dozens of lives. I am by no means defending the position, but that is what I believe his thought process was at the time.
Democrats immediately pushed the narrative that Trump was actually protecting himself, and they latched on to a handful of pictures showing Epstein and Trump together (they both traveled in the same circles in Florida and New York City).
Trump responded, "The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein Hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses.”
Over the last few weeks, Democrats have been cherry-picking photos with customized redactions to make the images seem scandalous.
For instance, one photo had Trump surrounded by a bunch of young women, all with their faces redacted. The photo had been released prior with all faces visible, so this was nothing more than a tactic by Democrats to make Trump look like he was in the middle of a salacious scandal. It was, in fact, Trump posing with a bunch of Hawaiian Tropic models at an event.
Democrats also made a series of statements in an effort to make it appear that Trump was hiding something. For instance, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) stated, "It is time to end this White House cover-up and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends.”
He continued, "These disturbing photos raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world. We will not rest until the American people get the truth. The Department of Justice must release all the files, NOW."
The GOP is now making a concerted effort to fight the narrative that Democrats are pushing, with Republican staffers on the House Oversight Committee releasing a memo.
It stated, "Throughout the Oversight Committee’s review of the federal government’s handling of the Epstein and Maxwell criminal investigations, Democrats have demonstrated a sustained pattern of misconduct — misrepresenting witness testimony, selectively leaking cherry-picked documents, and manipulating emails and images — to fabricate yet another politically motivated hoax targeting President Trump. As a result, nothing Democrats post or leak on this matter can be taken at face value."
The memo also called out the media for its role in publishing the comments and edited photos from Democrats, stating, "This reckless combination of partisan distortion and media malpractice undermines the Committee’s work, misleads the public, and distracts from the serious responsibility of ensuring accountability, transparency, and justice for the American people.”
This is just blatant deception on the part of the Democrats, and it becomes more and more evident with every passing day. The problem, of course, is that the media is part of that deception. It is the same as the Russian collusion hoax in terms of execution. Democrats know that if they make the media complicit, even when it gets exposed, journalists are less likely to turn it into a scandal because they helped perpetrate the fraud in the first place.
