Things just got a little more interesting for the 2026 midterm election season.
A major enemy of Donald Trump has just announced that he is running for Congress.
George Conway, the ex-husband of former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, just launched a campaign for a congressional seat in New York.
To say that I was familiar with George Conway before he got involved with the Lincoln Project would be a lie.
I knew his name and had heard of him, but that was about it. But I did know that he was the husband of Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, who played a significant role in the administration during the president's first term.
When George Conway launched the Lincoln Project, I was stunned, and I wondered how that would work out with his wife actually being in the administration he was fighting to defeat.
In announcing the organization's start, the co-founders wrote an op-ed, which, in part, stated, "Patriotism and the survival of our nation in the face of the crimes, corruption and corrosive nature of Donald Trump are a higher calling than mere politics. As Americans, we must stem the damage he and his followers are doing to the rule of law, the Constitution and the American character."
You did not have to be a brain surgeon to see that the Conway marriage was headed for trouble. There is just no way that house was pleasant to live in with these two opposing forces butting heads.
The ultimate rift took a bit longer than expected, but after 22 years of marriage, the Conways called it quits in 2023.
They jointly stated, “We married more than two decades ago, cherish the many happy years (and four corgis) we’ve shared, and above all else, our four incredible children, who remain the heartbeat of our family and our top priority.”
I know family members who fought over Trump, but for the situation to actually cost someone their marriage, well, that was pretty ridiculous to me.
Conway is now out to get his final revenge against Trump, announcing that he is running for Congress to represent NY-12.
The funny thing about this is that Conway is running as a Democrat, and the entire Democrat Party is already disowning him, even though he has a long record of opposing Trump.
For instance, Democrat consultant Chris Sosa stated, “Democratic voters are not about to elect the former president of Yale’s chapter of the Federalist Society to succeed Rep. Jerry Nadler. If Mr. Conway wishes to move up to New York City and run for NY-12, he should enter the Republican primary. I do admire Mr. Conway for standing up to President Trump. We need conservative voices to do just that. But running as a Democrat for Congress in NY-12 is cynical.”
I not only want to see Conway lose, but I want to see him embarrassed. Nobody wants to hear him whine about Trump for two years, and you know he will be at the head of the train to impeach Trump if Dems take back the House. If he loses, maybe, just maybe, he will go back under his rock and stay there.
