Democrat leadership is being defied by one of its most high-profile senators, who absolutely refuses to cave to call the strike against Iran illegal.
That senator is Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).
Not only is he refusing to buckle, but he is also blasting the party for being wrong on just about every issue since Hamas invaded Israel.
Fetterman recently appeared on News Nation, and it was one of the better interviews I have seen in terms of him calling out his party.
The PA Democrat ripped his party on just about every call it has made since the Hamas-Israel war started.
He stated, “[T]he [Democratic] mindset has been absolutely wrong since 10/7. They have called for a ceasefire again and again and again throughout 2024 and to pander to the fringe.
“If they would have forced [Israel] into a ceasefire, Hamas would still be functional, Hezbollah would still be a force capability, and Iran probably could have even acquired a nuclear weapon by now. Can’t we just get tired of — are we tired of being wrong, consistently, on the region?”
Fetterman also called out the party for turning against Israel, a trend we have seen developing since the Obama administration.
He stated, “[T]hat’s another truth here about the Democratic Party, we’re [be]coming more and more anti-Israel. Gov. Newsom announced now — he just described Israel as an apartheid state.
“That’s a talking point of the fringe of my party. And that’s been profoundly disappointing. I was shocked, overall. He’s — he might be more liberal, but I never thought he would actually go that way and would describe our strong, special ally and the only nation in that region that lives the kind of values that they would live like in California.
“Hey, I’ve been in Israel, Tel Aviv is like [the] San Diego version of Israel. And now you just described that as an apartheid state? That’s a betrayal of the moral clarity.”
That shot against Newsom is rather significant when you consider the California governor is among the favorites to lead the presidential ticket for Democrats in 2028.
As a party, Democrats are claiming Operation Epic Fury is “illegal,” but Fetterman believes otherwise, stating, “What I am confident in [is] that the world is better, that Iran can now not acquire a nuclear bomb. And I’m confident in knowing that the world’s better … having that garbage erased.”
He even acknowledged that siding with Trump is considered “toxic” for Democrats, but this is what he believes, and he is not budging on it.
Fetterman has put his career on the line to hold his moral line, and there are few people you can say that about today. This is not showboating to make yourself part of the resistance and get some headlines. This is a pro-America position by someone in a party that wants to change the fundamental belief system of our nation, and he is not budging. Democrat or Republican, I have to respect that.
