Sen. John Fetterman questions Democrat pushback on Maduro arrest

Just before leaving office, Joe Biden announced that his administration would increase the bounty on Nicolás Maduro to $25 million.

Now, however, Democrats are losing their minds over his weekend arrest, even though it was the result of a move that is far from unprecedented.

Well, at least most Democrats are losing their minds, as Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is once again dropping truth bombs on his own party.

Increasing the Reward

Before leaving office, Biden extended the temporary protected status (TPS) of Venezuelan migrants in the United States, and he also increased the reward for Maduro’s capture.

Now, increasing the reward seems like a political stunt on Biden's part, designed to justify extending TPS for Venezuelan migrants (600,000) he allowed into the country.

I say that because Democrats are all now pitching a fit over Maduro’s arrest, as if our country does not have a history of conducting these types of operations.

The arrest of Manuel Noriega is probably the most famous of such operations. Still, most presidents in modern history have conducted initiatives similar to the one Trump launched, even though Democrats are now screaming that he needed congressional approval first.

Why?

Once again, Fetterman is serving as the voice of reason on this matter.

Fetterman stated, “I’ve seen the speeches from — whether it’s Leader Schumer or…past tweets from President Biden, we all wanted this man gone, and now he is gone. Democrats, we all used to describe him as a dictator or a tyrant or a terrible person, and it wasn’t less than a year ago, President Biden raised the bounty [to] $25 million, less than a year ago.”

He then added, “Now, remember, we all — Democrats, years ago, wanted to eliminate him, and why have a bounty of $25 million if we didn’t want him gone? Why would you do these things if you weren’t willing to actually do something other than harsh language?” And “if you are putting in these $25 million [bounties] and calling that he has to go…are you willing to do more than just harsh language on social media?”

The answer is simple… Donald Trump did it, so Democrats must object to it.

It’s a good thing

The only people who don’t think this is a good thing for Venezuela are Democrats and white liberals… as everyone else seems to be cheering Maduro’s arrest.

The streets of Venezuela are filled with happy citizens, and Venezuelan Americans have been celebrating the arrest for days.

To that point, Fetterman stated, “I turn to a lot of the Venezuelans in our nation, and they’re all celebrating these things. And we all recognize that kind of warm collectivism, socialism in Venezuela, no one really liked to live under that, and they had to flee that. And now, here, we have a way forward, and now there’s a trial, a public trial…here. So, that’s the way it works.”

If Biden had conducted this operation, he would have been called courageous. Trump did it, so now most Democrats want to impeach him. The good news is that when they do try to achieve that, we know there is at least one Democrat senator who will not support it.
