After the weekend's Iran strikes, the members of Congress who suffer from TDS started to talk about impeachment.
For the most part, the effort was put down, but now some Democrats are calling out their fellow party members, saying this is a complete waste of time.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was among them, saying that AOC’s impeachment talk is not going anywhere.
When it comes to TDS in the House, I would say that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is in the top three, arguably the top two with Rep. Al Green (D-TX).
She is obsessed with two things: impeaching Trump and ending ICE.
So, after the Iran strike, it was not a surprise to hear her say, "The President's disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.”
AOC added, "He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment."
As is more often than not the case, AOC was wrong, as this was a precision military strike, the likes of which we have seen many administrations conduct without any pushback.
Trump knows this, which is why he went after AOC and dared her to impeach him, stating, "Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ‘dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment, despite the fact that the Crooked and Corrupt Democrats have already done that twice before.”
Trump then added, "The Democrats aren’t used to WINNING, and she can’t stand the concept of our Country being successful again.”
I really wish Trump would stop with the personal insults, as that will be the focus of his statement. If he removes the insults, that is a hard-hitting statement that would make it much harder for AOC and Democrats to come back at him. But make no mistake about it... Trump hit the nail on the head.
I heard quite a few Democrats in the House dismiss the claims by AOC and Green, and the resolution to impeach Trump was defeated, with more than 100 Democrats siding with the GOP to table the measure.
Prior to that vote, however, Fetterman dismissed AOC’s talk as nothing more than a publicity stunt, stating, “She knows it, I know it, we all know it. That’s not going anywhere. And, you know, he’s been impeached twice and now he’s still our president as well now, too. So it’s not going anywhere. And I don’t think that’s helpful. And I think if you throw that term around, that actually diminishes the severity of what impeachment is reserved for.”
He later added, “Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”
As I noted in one of our previous reports, this is about as bipartisan a moment as Trump could have, and this is rich material for the upcoming election cycle. This administration has every bit of the momentum, which should create a bit more sympathy for Trump’s spending bill. Let’s just hope the GOP does not do as it has in the past by derailing its momentum and proving to be its own worst enemy.
