The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been under the microscope by the Trump administration for some time.
The president has always believed that there is significant waste, fraud, and mismanagement at the agency, and he continues to be proven right.
The latest scandal facing the agency involves several staffers who have been terminated after it was revealed that, among other things, they were watching pornographic videos during work hours.
Last year, Florida was crushed by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton only weeks apart.
When FEMA was dispatched to help, reports surfaced that workers were being told by supervisors to avoid any homes that displayed Trump campaign signs.
Deanne Criswwell, the agency’s head at the time, called the report “reprehensible,” but insisted that these orders did not come from above.
It was later revealed that a supervisor was indeed giving the controversial order, and that supervisor had been terminated.
Then-Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (she is now a member of the U.S. Senate) stated, “While the facts will continue to come out over the weeks and months, it is already clear that Defendant Washington conspired with senior FEMA officials, as well as those carrying out her orders, to violate the civil rights of Florida citizens.”
Marn’i Washington was identified as the staffer who had given the order not to service Trump-supporting homes.
The DOJ investigated the matter and found the situation to have been isolated in nature, stating that it had “found no evidence that this was a systemic problem, nor that it was directed by agency or field leadership.”
According to Washington, she was only following agency protocol, having stated, “They all alleged that these actions were made on my own recognizance and that it was from my own political advances. However, if you look at the record, there is what we call a community trend. And unfortunately, it just so happened that the political hostility that was encountered by my team -- and I was on two different teams during this deployment -- they just so happened to have the Trump campaign signage.”
FEMA, which falls under the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, has just had another bombshell drop, and the administration took no time in handling the issue.
According to the report, the staffers at issue were watching “racially charged” and other pornographic videos while on work hours.
Secretary Kristi Noem announced, “These individuals had access to critical information and intelligence and were entrusted to safeguard Americans from emergencies -- and instead they were consuming pornography.” She continued, “And in at least one case the pornography consumed was racially charged and involved bestiality.”
The two workers were reportedly stationed at the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center near Bluemont, Virginia. The station is tasked with monitoring national emergencies, terror attacks, and even nuclear disasters, yet they were watching porn. I think Trump is right in believing that this agency needs to be stripped down and rebuilt, as it seems to do nothing but disappoint as of late.
