Eerie video shows masked man outside Guthrie home

The alleged kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie has captured the attention of the entire nation.

Many of the former FBI agents who have been appearing in the media now seem to think this was not a kidnapping for profit, but it has turned into that narrative due to media coverage.

This week, the FBI released a rather eerie video, with law enforcement possibly getting the break it needed in the case.

Not random

As this investigation has progressed, clues have started to surface, and former FBI agents are all over the news offering up their hypotheses on what happened.

For instance, former Special Agent Tracy Walder at the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office stated, “I feel that this was targeted. Her house is set pretty far back … It’s on almost an acre of land. This isn’t a place where the houses are really close together and people are looking for whatever’s an easy opportunity.”

That seems like a Captain Obvious statement to me, since other agents have provided some insight into what is going on here.

For instance, former FBI profiler James Fitzgerald had been speculating from day one that this was not a kidnapping for profit. He and former FBI agent Dr. Ray Carr have offered some very interesting insights into this on their podcast.

Person of interest

We were all hoping the big break would come after FBI Director Kash Patel announced they had a person of interest who had been apprehended for questioning.

However, the man was released with no charges filed.

He told a local outlet, “They didn’t even tell me what’s going on until the detectives got here, like, two hours before I got arrested.”

He continued, “They told me I was being detained for kidnapping, and I asked them, ‘Kidnapping of who?'”

Video clues

The video itself was eerie, given what happened, but it was also chock-full of information for a knowing eye.

For instance, the jawline under the mask was a bit puffed out, so the alleged assailant likely has a beard. The contour of the mask around the head is rather flat, so he could be bald or closely cropped hair.

Susan Constantine noted, "Even with the mask on, we can still see his eyes, his body structure, his proportions and his gait. All of those things are identifiable."

The backpack suggests some preparation, so this appeared premeditated, but his approach to the door also shows he was a bit of an amateur. It is taking some time, but I believe the authorities will have a big break within the week. That video provides experts with a lot of information, so the clock is now ticking. The only real question remaining is whether Guthrie is still alive.
