Dating back to the first administration, Democrats have tried to say that the GOP is going to cut Medicaid and Social Security.
President Donald Trump has been very open about removing the fraud and waste in these programs, but he has also been clear that the programs will remain.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), just dropped a bombshell on Democrats that should kill that narrative once and for all.
Within two months of taking office, Trump’s White House made it quite clear that his administration was not out to end these programs, especially after Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency revealed the massive waste and fraud that was present.
Trump highlighted Musk’s quote on these programs, stating, “The waste and fraud in entitlement spending -- which is most of the federal spending is entitlements -- so, that’s, like, the big one to eliminate. That’s the, sort of half-trillion, maybe $6-700 billion a year.”
The statement from the White House went on to note how the Social Security Administration paid out an estimated $72 billion in improper payments between 2015 and 2022.
Medicare and Medicaid have paid out more than $140 billion in improper payments.
Even though Trump had insisted that cuts would not be made, only ridding these programs of waste and fraud, Democrats have continued to pound this message.
For instance, a billboard was taken out by the DNC that stated, “UNDER TRUMP’S WATCH, STILWELL GENERAL HOSPITAL IS CLOSING ITS DOORS.”
Other billboards were placed with similar messages, accusing the administration of gutting the healthcare system.
DNC chair Ken Martin stated, “In states across the country, hospitals are either closing their doors or cutting critical services, and it’s Trump’s own voters who will suffer the most."
Oz, for his part, made a huge announcement this week about a major funding boost for Medicaid.
He stated, “And as you probably gather, if Medicaid isn’t able to take care of the people for whom it was designed, the young children, the dawn of their life, those who are twilight of their lives, the seniors, and those who were disabled living in the shadows, as Hubert Humphrey said, then we’re not satisfying the fundamental obligation of a moral government.”
Oz then announced that the administration was poised to give the program a $200 billion financial boost.
This is massive news for the country, especially for people who were in panic mode over the alleged cuts to the program. That is the danger when most people only read headlines and listen to nothing but liberal and Democrat rhetoric.
