Dems call for investigation into cancellation of ‘The Late Show’

This week, a major story broke that CBS was canceling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert next year.

Colbert, as we all know, has been a very vocal critic of President Donald Trump, often lecturing viewers about the bad orange man in the guise of comedy.

Democrats blew a fuse when they heard the news, and they are now about to waste taxpayer money to see if the cancellation was a peace offering to Trump.

Canceled

Many on the left believe the recent legal settlement between Trump and CBS parent company Paramount was linked to the show's cancellation.

CBS tried to quell that rumor, stating that the cancellation of the show was "not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

The network continued, "We are proud that Stephen called CBS home."

The statement added, "He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television."

Jimmy Kimmel meltdown

Fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, someone else who lectures viewers, went nuclear when the cancellation was announced, likely panicking that his show could be next. He stated, “Love you Stephen. F–k you and all your Sheldons CBS.”

The reality of this situation is that it is a business decision, and these late-night shows, which are on a mission against conservatives, are no longer getting the ratings they did when they took a more neutral approach.

I would encourage current hosts to adopt the same attitude that Johnny Carson had about not diving into politics in a partisan way, laying the groundwork for the continued existence of the current crop of comedy shows.

Their guy

Colbert is a Democratic Party lackey, donating to campaigns, supporting candidates, and telling the American people five nights a week how evil the bad orange man and his supporters are.

So, now Democrats plan on wasting taxpayer money to try to save his show. Sens. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) now want to use our taxpayer money to investigate the cause of the cancellation, believing it was indicative of Paramount extending an olive branch to Trump to gain favor.

For instance, Schiff wrote, "Just finished taping with Stephen Colbert who announced his show was cancelled. If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better.”

Warren added, "CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump -- a deal that looks like bribery. America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons. Watch and share his message."

Nobody care about this situation, and I surely do not want to see taxpayer money wasted to try to help Colbert get his show back. This is NOT how taxpayer money should be used, period.
