Bill Clinton has a big problem on his hands.
He refused to honor a congressional subpoena, likely because he thought Democrats would back him up.
Well, that did not happen, as Dems broke ranks to hold Bill and Hillary accountable to the subpoenas.
When the subpoena by the House Oversight Committee was issued to have the Clintons come in to testify regarding the Epstein files, Bill and Hillary penned a letter to the committee telling them they had no intention of coming in.
In part, the letter stated, “Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences. For us, now is that time.”
Just as a reminder, remember how Hillary lost it when Trump allies were refusing congressional subpoenas?
How many times have we heard the line, “Nobody is above the law?”
At the last minute, Bill offered Comer a solution… he would testify, but there could be no recording, only the ranking Democrat could accompany him, and Comer would need to come to Clinton in New York.
As I stated in a previous report, this was a setup by Clinton so he could deny anything Comer reported to the media about their conversation.
Comer laughed off the offer, responding, “I have rejected the Clintons’ ridiculous offer.” He continued, “The Clintons’ latest demands make clear they believe their last name entitles them to special treatment.”
He then added, “The House Oversight Committee’s bipartisan subpoenas require the Clintons to appear for depositions that are under oath and transcribed. Former President Clinton has a documented history of parsing language to evade questions, responded falsely under oath, and was impeached and suspended from the practice of law as a result.”
When the committee vote was taken, nine Democrats walked across the aisle to hold Clinton in contempt. Two Dems voted against Hillary.
Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) was among those who voted against Bill Clinton, but he was upset about the vote against Hillary, stating, “There was nothing in there — not a shred of evidence against Hillary. It was more dragging her in because of the animosity between her and the president, I believe.”
Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), she of the “nobody is above the law,” was reportedly going off behind the scenes to try to block the resolution, but she clearly failed.
The hypocrisy is utterly ridiculous, but at least a handful of Democrats realize they cannot hold anyone else in those files accountable unless they get Bill to testify. Honestly, Clinton says he did nothing wrong, so I don’t get why he is being so protective here. If you have nothing to hide, you testify and get this story in the rearview mirror of the news cycle.
