Cruz clashes with CNN host over motives behind Kirk assassination

When you find bullets with the word “fascist” inscribed on them, I think you can easily make the call that the motive behind the assassination of Charlie Kirk was political in nature.

Kirk had faced just as many catcalls from the left as Donald Trump has, as clips of his campus talks were cut and used as clickbait by leftist sites for years to wrongly paint him as a racist and extremist.

Even after criminal charges in his murder were announced, making clear the motive that drove the accused assassin, the media still refused to admit that this was a politically motivated event.

Words…

Whenever Democrats talk about Trump and his rhetoric, they remind the public that words have consequences.

Yet, when you call them out, they claim that declaring Trump a Nazi and a racist is not akin to calling for political violence.

How many times have we heard Democrats use that very terminology against Trump, literally calling him a “Hitler wannabe,” “fascist,” and likening ICE to the Gestapo?

When you make these comparisons enough times, the Looney Tunes start to get the idea that they need to stop such an individual by any means necessary, and that is what happened when Trump's life was targeted, and also when Kirk was killed.

Charges announced

I honestly thought that the media would be forced to admit that Kirk's murder was politically motivated when the specific charges against the assassin were announced.

The term “belief or perception regarding Charlie Kirk’s political expression” was used in several of the charges, making it quite clear that this was a politically motivated case.

Yet, after the allegations were announced, a CNN article on the topic contained a subheader, saying, “Hints at a possible motive.”

The charges were not a hint; they are telling you that the assassin targeted Kirk because of his political expression. There is no gray area here.

Directive?

On Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was on CNN to discuss the Kirk case, and host Kaitlan Collins still insisted that the motive was unknown, even though there was now no doubt remaining that this was a politically motivated case based on the evidence already discovered.

Collins, however, stated, "We don’t have a motive yet. We don’t know yet. We’re waiting. Obviously, we’ve heard what the governor has had to say, what the FBI director had to say today.” Cruz shot back, "Of course we know. Come on, we don‘t have a motive yet? We don't have a motive yet, really? That's CNN's position? He just happened to fire the gun in celebration. You can't tell the motive here?"

There was more back and forth between them, but Collins held firm to the assertion that there had still been no concrete demonstration made that this was a politically motivated assassination. And let’s not forget, by this time, the assassin’s text messages had also been revealed, in which he openly stated he killed Kirk because he “had enough of his hate.”

This is the dangerous part about cherry-picking quotes. When some of Kirk’s statements are taken out of context, they may seem abhorrent, but when you listen to his full statement, it becomes clear that the media routinely edited what he said for clicks and likes, not to tell the full story. Having said that, I think we could make the case that the media played just as big a role in Kirk’s death as Democrats and liberal talking heads who used those cherry-picked quotes to make him out to be something he was not.
