The early morning raid of former Trump adviser John Bolton’s house has been all over the news today.
Democrats are losing their minds over the situation, but several prominent Republicans are slapping the FBI on the back.
House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-KY) is atop that list.
According to local reports, Bolton’s house was raided by the FBI around 7 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
Bolton served as Trump’s National Security Adviser during his first term in the White House, but after leaving the administration, he was very critical of his former boss.
When it was reported that the FBI launched a raid at Bolton's home, it took all of about five seconds for the media and Democrats to start pushing political revenge.
I found that rather entertaining, since most of these people were giddy when the FBI raided Donald Trump’s home for the same reason…to find improperly retained classified documents.
When Trump’s home was raided, I warned Democrats that they were opening up Pandora’s box because we know that many government officials keep documents in order to write memoirs of the sort that Bolton himself has released.
I have stated numerous times that if we went into every former government official's home, we would likely find classified documents, just as they found in former Vice President Mike Pence’s home and former President Joe Biden’s.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) said the raid of Bolton's home was chilling, especially considering the timing of it. Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe responded similarly, with an added twist.
McCabe was outraged that Patel posted about the warrant, stating, “This is not the kind of thing that any FBI director has ever done. FBI directors don’t gratuitously point towards search warrants and the people who are the targets of those warrants in any sort of way that could possibly be interpreted as grandstanding and nonsensical, as this one certainly suggests.” I also found that amusing, considering how proud everyone was of the Trump raid when it occurred.
On the other side of this coin is the Republican response, with many in the GOP expressing delight that the “deep state” in this country is being exposed.
For instance, Comer, after saying he did not want to jump the gun and insisting that Bolton deserved due process, added, "But I do believe that Kash Patel and [Attorney General] Pam Bondi and [CIA Director] John Ratcliffe and [Director of National Intelligence] Tulsi Gabbard are serious about holding the deep state accountable for all the mistakes and all the abuses of power that we've witnessed from the deep state over the past decades."
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR) added, "While all accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, the news of this situation is incredibly troubling. Nobody is above the law.”
Nobody is above the law, unless they are a Democrat or a Trump hater. These people are not used to having the very government that has permitted their corruption coming back at them. I know how the mainstream media is playing this, and quite frankly, I couldn't care less. Dems set the tone for this, and now that the rules are being applied evenly, they are furious about it. Having said all that, I really hope the FBI came up with something solid on Bolton, because if this was a nothing burger, Trump and Republicans will pay a significant political price.
