Christina Ricci frames French rioters as protesters of ‘the state of the world’

Christina Ricci defended French “rioting mobs” as protesters of “the state of the world” after arson and looting left Paris strewn with debris and a landmark in flames.

The Yellowjackets and Addams Family star pushed back on Threads after users refused to dress up the weekend chaos as peaceful dissent. One post urged people to stop calling the unrest “protests” and label the crowds “rioting MOBS.” Ricci answered in plain terms.

Breitbart News reported her reply and the wreckage that followed what began as protests over the cost of living and educational funding.

"Yes and those ‘rioting mobs’ are protesting the state of the world."

That framing landed as France dealt with mass arrests, burned government buildings, and luxury storefronts smashed open. Paris woke to broken glass, debris, and charred vehicles and bicycles after a night of rioting. In Limoges, the city hall, completed in 1883, partially collapsed while engulfed in flames after an arson attack.

Another Threads user posted video and photos of attacks on high-end stores and wrote that watching Celine, Burberry, Dior, and Louis Vuitton hit felt “honestly sad,” asking why destroy property and what the stores had done. Ricci’s second reply dismissed the concern.

"Capitalism doesn’t need your grief."

Over 1,200 arrested as a landmark burns

Authorities arrested more than 1,200 people tied to the events. A known far-left extremist already on the French government’s terror watchlist was arrested after the destruction of Limoges City Hall.

The New York Post reported that a 34-year-old ultra-left militant on France’s national security watchlist was arrested Tuesday in Val d’Issoire as the main suspect in that arson. Police described him as an “ultra-left militant” who allegedly belongs to a violent radical-left group. The 140-year-old landmark’s clock tower and roof collapsed. Limoges mayor Guillaume Guerin said the listed building now needs a complete “Notre Dame-style” reconstruction. Nearly 150 people have already been convicted and sentenced for violence or property damage from the weekend protests.

Claims also mounted of a communist “terror training camp” operating in the countryside near the besieged city.

Vance warns Americans to pay attention

Vice President JD Vance weighed in as landmarks burned and footage of the damage spread on social media. He tied the disorder to elite choices on migration and assimilation, and he aimed a direct warning at home.

"Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility. They were told it would lead to this and they didn’t listen."

Vance followed with a prayer for France and a blunt note for U.S. voters.

"I pray that France, a beautiful country of amazing people, will stop this madness before more of its landmarks burn. And I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the future congressional Democrats seek for your country."

Ricci’s Threads posts treated the mobs as moral witnesses to global injustice. The arrest totals, the gutted 19th-century city hall, the looted luxury shops, and the charred bikes in Paris told a harder story: property destroyed, a historic civic building ruined, and hundreds already sentenced while more cases move through the system.

Hollywood can call arson a protest. Taxpayers and shopkeepers live with the bill.
