For years, Democrats and the media have been accusing Supreme Court justices who do not cave to liberals of engaging in corrupt conduct.
We saw it after the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and we have repeatedly seen it happen again since Donald Trump returned to office.
The allegations against the justices are beyond one-sided, but a CBS reporter is finally trying to put a stop to them.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) is among the Democrats who like to stamp their feet when things don’t go Democrats’ way, and he did again in June 2024 while discussing the court.
If you recall, at the time, there were questions about the friendship between Justice Clarence Thomas and billionaire Harlan Crow, and also about flags flown outside the home of Justice Samuel Alito.
When asked about Joe Biden’s criticism of the court, Murphy responded, "I think it would be irresponsible for the president not to talk about the fact that this court is becoming brazenly corrupt and brazenly political. It's up to the American people this election to do something about that."
He later added, "I think there's a crisis on the court. In particular with respect to Justice Alito and Justice Thomas. What Justice Thomas is engaged in is just a grift. He's got a major political player on the outside who absolutely has political and business interests at the court paying off a justice."
When the Supreme Court issued its blockbuster ruling on presidential immunity, it was nothing more than a regurgitation of previous decisions on the topic, all put into one package. Democrats, however, misconstrued the ruling to say that Trump had been given absolute immunity for all acts while president, and that could not have been further from the truth.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor even insinuated that Trump could use SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political opponent, and he would be immune from prosecution, which is just ludicrous.
In response to the ruling, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted, "The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control.” Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) added, “I will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse SCOTUS’ harmful decision and ensure that no president is above the law. This amendment will do what SCOTUS failed to do -- prioritize our democracy.”
This was gaslighting at its finest. These people were just blatantly misrepresenting the ruling to the American people, solely because they know that most people just read headlines and rely on social media for their news. It was pure manipulation.
Finally, someone in the mainstream media is calling out the dishonesty, as CBS News' chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford called this tactic “dangerous” and urged for it to stop.
She stated, "You know, there is a narrative that the Supreme Court is corrupt. I mean, we saw that emerge in the wake of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, and now we see it, that they’re in the tank for Trump.”
She continued, “Not only is that narrative overreported, it is patently false, and it is dangerous for the institution, and the public’s faith and confidence in the rule of law."
Here is what is even more shocking to me. I was correcting these politicians and reporters from the outset, but nobody else in the mainstream media was doing that, especially in regard to the issue of presidential immunity. We need an informed society, not a manipulated one. And as long as politicians and the mainstream media are working hand-in-hand like this, we will never have that. Instead, we have brainwashed voters heading to the polls, not to mention constant anger and chaos among the American people.
