MAGA is fuming over the Epstein files, or lack of files, I should say, as Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel announced recently that there is no client list to release.
President Donald Trump has since defended Bondi, then asked her to release only those files she thought were credible, but that still did not satisfy many within the MAGA movement
Therefore, Bondi just made another move to try to pacify MAGA, terminating former FBI Director James Comey’s daughter from her role as a federal prosecutor.
After much to-do from the Trump campaign during the election, when it came time to produce an Epstein client list, the DOJ and FBI said it does not exist.
When the announcement was made, Bondi immediately came under fire for a previous comment she made regarding the anticipated materials.
When a journalist asked her about the release of a client list, she responded, "It's sitting on my desk right now to review.”
Bondi has since stated she was referring to the Epstein files as a whole, not just the client list, but that did not satisfy MAGA.
Trump has since come out to tell his MAGA supporters to back off, saying he is “not happy” with the fact that so many have gone on the attack against Bondi.
The president has also tried to flip the script, claiming that former President Barack Obama and James Comey were responsible for the creation of the files, which is a bit ridiculous when you consider his own previous statements about the case.
This controversy has taken over the news cycle, and that is a big problem for Trump, with one GOP strategist explaining, “This is a major problem and could hurt turnout in the midterms. It signals betrayal to those who believed the president would expose the deep state. His team made promises, then doubled down."
The source continued, “For the base that believes the deep state is real and that Epstein was part of it, this feels like the ultimate knife in the back.”
Trump has also asked Bondi to release any files that she believes are credible, but Bondi has resisted thus far, hoping this just goes away. Besides, the idea behind declassifying the files and releasing them was to let the American people decide on their veracity, not to have files cherry-picked for us to review.
To help the distraction campaign along, Bondi just terminated James Comey’s daughter, Maurene Comey from her post as a federal prosecutor in New York.
The interesting aspect of this is that it was Maurene Comey who helped prosecute Epstein and his alleged accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. She was also involved in the prosecution of Sean "Diddy" Combs, so she will have lots to tell if she chooses to go that route.
I believe Ms. Comey was a victim of her last name, and I think this firing could backfire on Bondi if the now-former federal prosecutor decides to run to the media to tell everything she knows about the Epstein files. You know what they say… “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Something tells me this move could be the beginning of the end for Bondi.
