Democrats, and some Republicans, have been all over Bondi about the Epstein files not being released by the court-mandated date.
Bondi, however, stated that the files were delayed because they had found millions more, plus redactions were needed.
This weekend, she finally announced that all files were released, and I thought that would get her some relief, but boy, was I wrong.
Bondi’s hearing regarding the Epstein files did not amount to much actual information, as it was more about Democrats demanding her resignation and Bondi firing back at them.
And the insults were not limited to Democrats, as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) was frothing at the mouth to get his shot at Bondi.
After he had his turn, Bondi responded, “This guy has Trump derangement syndrome. You’re a failed politician.”
The only time there was any agreement between Bondi, the left, and the anti-Trumpers in the party was when Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) claimed his family had received threats, to which Bondi responded, "None of you should be threatened, ever. None of your children should be threatened. None of your families should be threatened."
Bondi has now announced that the DOJ has finally released all files in a letter to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Judiciary committees.
In part, her letter stated, "In accordance with the requirements of the Act, and as described in various Department submissions to the courts of the Southern District of New York assigned to the Epstein and Maxwell prosecutions and related orders, the Department released all ‘records, documents, communications and investigative materials in the possession of the Department’ that ‘relate to’ any of nine different categories.”
The letter also mentioned all the names of those who were redacted, including quite a few that we had not heard were in the files to that point, at least I had not.
Some of the bigger names were Kurt Cobain, Bruce Springsteen, Michelle and Barack Obama, and yes, she even noted President Trump’s name in the letter. However, what was missing was context, which is what had lawmakers so upset.
Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Massie were not happy with the release, once again calling out Bondi for not giving them what they expected.
Khanna stated, "To have Janis Joplin, who died when Epstein was 17, in the same list as Larry Nassar, who went to prison for the sexual abuse of hundreds of young women and child pornography, with no clarification of how either was mentioned in the files is absurd.”
Massie added, "The problem with that is the bill that Ro Khanna and I wrote says that they must release internal memos and notes and emails about their decisions on whether to prosecute or not prosecute, whether to investigate or not investigate."
There are two reasons why I think the Epstein files will be the end of Bondi. First, I think Trump is upset they were released, and he was not defended more by the DOJ. Second, I think Bondi is exhausted from being attacked constantly, and I just don’t see anyone being able to stand up to this for another three years. If she is not gone before the summer, I would be shocked.
