BBC documentary accuses Jared Leto of sexual misconduct with teenagers spanning more than a decade

Four women using pseudonyms accuse Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto of sexual misconduct, including alleged assault and sex with a minor, in a new BBC documentary covering incidents from 2002 to 2016.

The allegations surface in a BBC documentary titled "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," which features four primary accusers, an additional accuser who says she was 14 at the time, four unnamed women who describe sexually explicit phone calls, and two former male staffers from Leto's band Thirty Seconds to Mars. Page Six reported that the accusers' ages at the time of the alleged incidents ranged from 14 to 19, and that the BBC corroborated their accounts through friends, family members, photographs, messages, and other supporting material.

Leto, now 54, won an Academy Award in 2014 for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club" and fronts the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Page Six said it reached out to Leto's representatives for comment but reported no response. Leto previously denied a separate set of allegations published by Air Mail in June 2025, in which nine women accused him of sexual impropriety.

Accusers describe a pattern reaching back to 2002

The earliest allegation comes from a woman identified by the pseudonym "Isabel," who claims Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17.

A second accuser, "Clara," alleges she had sex with Leto in California in 2006, also at age 17. California's age of consent is 18. According to the BBC documentary, Leto "shrugged off" a conversation about the state's age-of-consent law.

A third woman, "Alex," says she was 19 in 2013 when she was unexpectedly left alone with Leto in a hotel room and claims he threatened her with sexual assault.

The fourth primary accuser, "Etta," alleges Leto groomed her beginning in 2014, when she was 16, through repeated sexually explicit phone calls and suggestions that they should have sex. Approximately two years later, the BBC reports, she received a non-disclosure agreement intended to prevent her from discussing their relationship. The BBC says it reviewed the NDA document. "Etta" refused to sign it.

A 14-year-old accuser and a pattern of phone calls

Beyond the four primary accusers, a woman identified as "Taylor" alleges Leto made a sexual comment about her chest during an autograph signing at a music festival when she was 14. She claims Leto then directed a security guard to bring her backstage. Her mother, according to the documentary, confronted Leto about the remark, and he repeated it.

Four additional unnamed women told the BBC they received unusual and often sexually explicit phone calls from Leto when they were younger. The documentary does not identify them by pseudonym or provide further detail about those calls.

Two former male staffers from Thirty Seconds to Mars also appear in the documentary. One former staffer offered a blunt assessment of what he observed:

"I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big."

Earlier reports flagged Leto's conduct with teenage girls

The BBC documentary is not the first time Leto's name has appeared alongside allegations involving minors. A September 2005 New York Post report described Leto "hitting on all" teen models at New York City's Maritime Hotel and "constantly texting these other 16 and 17-year-old girls."

Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz alleged on social media last year that Leto assaulted her when she was 17. Other women came forward with similar claims around the same time, though the documentary does not specify whether Teilz's account is included in its reporting.

Then came the June 2025 Air Mail article, in which nine women accused Leto of sexual impropriety. Leto denied those allegations. No verbatim denial from Leto or his representatives appears in the BBC documentary's coverage.

One accuser in the documentary put the timeline in stark terms:

"This was 25 years ago... he has gotten away with it."

No charges filed, no formal response

No arrests, criminal charges, or law-enforcement investigations are mentioned in connection with any of the allegations. The BBC documentary does not indicate whether any accuser reported the alleged conduct to police at the time or subsequently.

Leto's representatives have not publicly addressed the documentary's specific claims. Page Six noted its own outreach produced no comment. Whether Leto or his legal team will respond remains an open question, as does whether any law-enforcement agency will act on the accounts now that they are public.

The accusations span 14 years, involve accusers who were as young as 14, and now come from multiple independent outlets and a major broadcaster's investigative unit. If the pattern these women describe is accurate, it did not happen in secret, it happened in plain sight, with people around who noticed and said nothing until now.
