Bill Barr says he saw nothing in Epstein files that could damage Trump

I believe we are now a step closer to finally putting the Epstein files behind us, that is, unless Democrats want to continue to push this bogus narrative that Donald Trump is protecting himself by keeping the files closed.

This week, former Attorney General Bill Barr testified before the House Oversight Committee.

During his testimony, Barr revealed that he never saw anything in the files that would implicate Trump.

No client list

In early July, the DOJ and FBI jointly announced that there was no official Jeffrey Epstein client list, and they had no proof that Epstein was blackmailing officials.

This did not sit well with MAGA, but Democrats then decided to pounce, believing that the files were being left closed to protect Trump.

I have said it before, but the outrage on the part of MAGA was self-inflicted on many fronts

First off, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated she had the files on her desk, but that is not the entire story. Trump and his surrogates have been harping on this issue for years, so the harsh reaction to the backpedaling came out of frustration about something that long had been promised to the MAGA base.

Noting to implicate Trump

Several weeks ago, some aspects of the Ghislaine Maxwell DOJ interview were revealed, including her assertion that she never saw Trump do anything that would implicate him in problematic conduct.

That testimony was backed up by the testimony of Barr, who went before the House Oversight Committee this week,

The hearing was held behind closed doors, but panel chair James Comer (R-KY) told the media, "He said that he had never seen anything that would implicate President Trump in any of this, and that he believed if there had been anything pertaining to President Trump with respect to the Epstein list, that he felt like the Biden administration would probably have leaked it out.”

Barr also backed up the idea that no client list existed, telling the committee he never saw anything of the like when he reviewed the files.

Crockett goes for her 15 minutes

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), of course, saw things differently and could not wait to run to the media to blast the hearing, Barr, Trump, and Republicans in general.

Crockett claimed that Barr’s testimony left her with “more questions now” than before they had heard from Barr. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) added, "I think the Democratic side is doing most of the heavy lifting, and I don't think we're learning much from the questioning from the House Republicans.”

She continued, "It doesn't seem like this is something where they are truly caring about the victims and about trying to get to the bottom of what's happening."

The irony of this is beyond rich. For years, the Democrats were not interested in anything about Epstein because they figured it would take down Bill Clinton. But now that they think there is something in there about Trump, their mouths are frothing like a rabid dog.
