When former President Joe Biden was leaving office, there was a flurry of commutations and pardons granted.
Roughly 2,500 commutations were issued over the final hours of the term, with Biden setting an overall record for more than 4,000 clemency grants ultimately issued.
We immediately questioned whether Biden was aware of the specifics of the orders, but now that Axios has reported on the truth of the situation, all hell his breaking loose.
During the final days of Biden’s presidency, he commuted the sentences of nearly 2,500 people, tallying more overall clemency actions on this front than any president in the country's history.
Biden stated, "With this action, I have now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any president in U.S. history.”
He continued, “I am proud of my record on clemency and will continue to review additional commutations and pardons.”
The question then was whether his staff had just put them in front of him to sign or if the cases had been properly reviewed by Biden before orders were announced. As investigations into the matter unfolded, it appeared to be the former.
The reporting of this scandal by the mainstream media has gone at a snail’s pace, eerily familiar to how the book Original Sin was applauded as some monumental and earth-shattering reporting, when blogs like ours had blown the truth of Biden's decline wide open months, if not years, ago.
Axios finally started to report on the scandal, revealing that even among Biden DOJ officials, there were serious doubts about whether the president had actually approved the commutations and pardons he was said to have granted.
We had reported on the issues raised by Biden DOJ officials at least a week ago, but most mainstream outlets suggested that all of this was nothing more than a conspiracy, and of course, the former president himself has denied that there is anything to see here.
Axios released the very same email trails on which we had reported, but now, the outlet's acknowledgment has given the scandal the legitimacy needed for the GOP to really press forward in its probe.
After the Axios report came out, House Oversight chair James Comer (R-KY) could not have been happier.
He stated, "New records reveal President Biden’s own administration raised concerns about autopen use to grant thousands of pardons. This is a historic scandal with massive repercussions. As President Biden declined, his aides carried out executive actions without his approval, casting doubt on the legitimacy of thousands of pardons and other executive actions."
Trump also responded to the report, posting to Truth Social, "THE BIDEN AUTOPEN SCANDAL IS BIG, NOT AS BIG AS THE RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, OR THE RIGGED 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, BUT, NEVERTHELESS, ONE OF THE BIGGEST, EVER!!!"
They are both right, as this is a major scandal, and I am not sure how much longer Biden's team will be able to keep a wet blanket over it. Joe Biden was not running the show, as there was clearly a shadow government operating during his time in office. But will the rest of the mainstream media fall in line, or will the Axios report just be a blip on the screen that eventually allows Democrats to keep the entire scenario swept under the rug?
