When Donald Trump left office in 2021, the country had finally locked down its borders, and immigration was under control.
Former President Joe Biden ruined that, literally from his first day in office, allowing more than an estimated 10 million illegal immigrants (and that is being conservative) into the country.
We are now seeing the fruits of Biden's efforts, as more and more arrests are being made by the Trump administration.
There are those who think that someone like me, who lives in Texas, is only interested in illegal immigration because of how it impacts my state, but that could not be further from the truth.
I have two major concerns. The first is the trickle-down effect of illegal immigration. The second is preventable crimes committed, which, in this case, are every crime committed by someone who has no right to be in this country, and both of these issues impact the entire country.
For instance, recently in Nebraska, an Indian human-drug-sex trafficking ring was just broken up. Investigators with the FBI and ICE Homeland Security Investigations managed to rescue 10 minors from the operation.
An official stated, “Seventeen adult victims were also rescued from the same conspiracy. The complaint affidavit details the allegedly exploitative conditions these victims were subjected to while being required to pay the defendants for their lodging at the hotels. The lodging accommodations were unclean, unsafe, and unhealthy.”
This problem is hitting every part of the country, even the tiny state of Rhode Island, where an illegal immigrant was released by authorities after having committed a horrific crime.
Josue Santiago Perez Gomez, an unlawful arrival, was allegedly patronizing a minor for commercial sexual activity, indecent solicitation of a child, and procurement of sexual conduct for a fee.
He was arrested by Portsmouth Police on July 12, and ICE Boston filed a detainer, but the city did not honor it, and Perez was released from police custody hours later.
Boston acting field office Director Patricia Hyde responded, “Josue Santiago Perez Gomez stands accused of some disgusting and disturbing crimes and represents a clear threat to the children of our Rhode Island communities. Releasing an alleged child sex offender the very day of his arrest begs the question: What is the point of arresting him at all?”
Since Trump took office, the border has finally been shut down again, and over the last few months, few, if any, illegals have been released to the country’s interior.
With more than 300,000 arrests of illegals since this administration took over, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “Under President Trump, this border is the most secure it has ever been.”
Leavitt continued, “When you fortify the border, when you restore deterrence, and when you empower Border Patrol agents and our brave men and women in uniform to actually do their jobs to enforce our laws like this president has, this is the incredible result.”
The changes have been staggering, and I think the American people are finally realizing just how out-of-control the Democrats' border plan was. The only question is if it means enough to them that they vote to help the GOP defy history and hold the House in 2026.
