A super PAC associated with former Mayor Eric Adams has been caught funneling roughly $1 million to shady businesses and a friend.
Adams was charged with bribery when Biden was in office, and the case appeared to be airtight.
However, when Trump took office, his DOJ dropped the charges, which I believe was a monumental mistake.
The Biden DOJ announced the charges against Adams in September 2024.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated, “As alleged, Mayor Adams abused his position as this City’s highest elected official, and before that as Brooklyn Borough President, to take bribes and solicit illegal campaign contributions.
“By allegedly taking improper and illegal benefits from foreign nationals—including to allow a Manhattan skyscraper to open without a fire inspection—Adams put the interests of his benefactors, including a foreign official, above those of his constituents.
“This Office and our partners at the FBI and DOI will continue to pursue corruption anywhere in this City, especially when that corruption takes the form of illegal foreign influence on our democratic system.”
Adams, in my opinion, changed his tune about immigration to play Trump in order to get a pardon, but Trump gave him one better.
The DOJ announced it would be dropping the charges, but it wanted to do so without prejudice. I believe this was to keep it held over Adams’ head.
The charges, however, were dropped with prejudice, as the judge expressed doubt about the innocence of Adams while also noting the DOJ request was likely so it could bring charges against Adams in the future if he did not hold true to his word.
This has now come back to bite Trump.
My belief is that Adams is as corrupt as the day is long, which is why I did not back Trump's decision to drop the charges against Adams.
My suspicions were proven right again after a report surfaced the money from Adams’ super PAC was allegedly being funneled to a close friend and a shady LLC.
The Post reported, “A super PAC supporting ex-Mayor Eric Adams’ failed re-election bid paid more than $1 million to shady corporations — including one connected to a criminal crypto drug dealer, records show.”
I will openly admit my bias here because I was furious when Adams was let off the hook on the bribery charges. I would love to see some justice here to finally hold this man accountable for his abuses while in office. I am sick and tired of seeing corrupt officials walk. This is an opportunity to fix that.
