When Joe Biden withdrew from Afghanistan, priority was given to Afghan nationals who worked with the Americans in the country and wished to resettle in the United States.
According to reports, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the alleged shooter in Wednesday's D.C. National Guard attack, was among those who were part of that program.
Now, questions are being asked whether he should have even been accepted as an asset of the CIA, which reports now indicate that he was.
My regular readers can probably skip this section, as I wanted to reiterate one of my biggest fears about how our country is being manipulated right now (I have broken this down before in previous reports).
If you want to take down an organization or country, the best way to do it is from within. And for a country, I believe the best way to do that is by taking over local government first, then working your way up to state and federal seats.
We can use New York City as a textbook example. Zohran Mamdani was able to gain a city council seat to impact policy, and now he will be the mayor of the biggest city in this country.
From the perspective of migrants, those who work with our military and intelligence agencies overseas are sometimes given preference when migrating to the country. So, if you are our enemy, would it not be worth sacrificing a few pawns to be able to have someone safely passed through the vetting process?
In August 2021, Biden launched OAW for the purpose of protecting vulnerable Afghans after the United States withdrew from Afghanistan.
More than 40% of the migrants in the program were issued Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) for having put their lives at risk to help US assets in the country.
The operation was eventually renamed Enduring Welcome. Since the launch of the operation, more than 190,000 Afghans have been resettled in our country.
Now, I would suspect that the majority of the people who worked for us were sincere in their efforts, but as I mentioned above, I also believe some radicals were operating in these programs solely for the sake of gaining favor with our government to either become privy to information or, in the case of the D.C. shooting suspect, to come to the United States.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal and his family were brought to this country due to his prior work with the CIA. He reportedly collaborated with the agency via the elite Afghan commando “Zero Unit” (this unit has been accused of human rights violations).
As part of his migration package, he was provided with a $2,000/month apartment in Washington state, where he reportedly remained up until this attack. If reports are accurate, he drove from Washington to D.C. solely to attack our National Guard troops.
CIA director John Ratcliffe stated, “This individual -- and so many others -- should have never been allowed to come here.” Now, I have seen reports of mental illness, but I don’t want to go down that path until I can confirm the reports, as there is a ton of misinformation from conspiracy sites floating around about these attacks right now.
Shawn VanDiver, founder and president of #AfghanEvac, a nonprofit run by American veterans helping resettle Afghan allies in the US, feels completely betrayed, and he should. He stated, “He betrayed his family. He betrayed every American that helped him get here. He betrayed the United States government.” He continued, “He deserves to be held fully accountable. But Afghan families did not do this.”
The Trump administration has already stated that it plans to revamp the vetting process, and I completely agree with that stance. I would even take it a step further to say that the individuals who are helping or have helped us in the past deserve even more scrutiny to ensure they are not double agents, so to speak. Call me paranoid all you want, but I don’t think you can ever be too careful when you are bringing people from terror-related countries to live here in the United States.
