I despise corrupt public officials, and I would have to say that former CIA Director John Brennan is a forever-member of my Top 10 list.
Brennan clearly weaponized his position and went rogue against Donald Trump when he was in a position of power, and I have always wanted to see him pay for it.
In my opinion, Brennan has blatantly lied to the American people time and time again, but now the House Judiciary Committee is hoping to get justice on that front, announcing a criminal referral for him to the Department of Justice.
There was a time when Brennan was a respected member of the government, but I never felt that reputation was deserved. I have always considered him to be a snake in the grass; someone we absolutely could not trust.
When it became clear that Brennan had lied before Congress, constitutional expert Jonathan Turley, who, for my money, is the best in the business, ripped him in an op-ed in The Hill.
Turley wrote, “Newly declassified information contradicts Brennan’s testimony before Congress on the origins of the now-debunked Russian collusion conspiracy theory. There is a particular focus on the intelligence community assessment commissioned by President Barack Obama in December 2016, which suggested that Russia had interfered in the 2016 presidential election to help Donald Trump.”
Let’s not forget that Brennan was also among those who pushed the Russian disinformation campaign regarding Hunter Biden's laptop. This man is a shill for the Democratic Party, and nothing else.
Readers in my age bracket will remember Sgt. Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes, the German prison guard who always claimed he saw and heard nothing.
If you slap a helmet and mustache on Brennan, he could be a dead ringer for Schultz, especially after you hear him talk about alleged wrongdoing during the Russian interference probe.
When reports first surfaced against Brennan on this front, he whined to the media, "I know nothing about this reported investigation or referral to the DOJ, other than what I've read in these press reports, these leaks, which are not really supposed to happen if there is an investigation going on.”
He continued, "I think this is, unfortunately, a very sad and tragic example of the continued politicization of the intelligence community, of the national security process."
A criminal referral to the DOJ very serious matter, and I would expect the officials there to try to secure an indictment, as I firmly believe Brennan lied to Congress, and by default, to the American people, and he needs to be held accountable.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, announced, “John Brennan lied to Congress. Today, we referred him to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.”
The referral is centered around Brennan’s claim that the CIA was opposed to the inclusion of the Steele dossier in the Intelligence Community Assessment, which is just blatantly false, as a since-revealed communications trail has proven.
I know the media will call this potential prosecution petty and vindictive, and they will never consider that perhaps Brennan did break the law, but it seems fairly clear to me that he did. I love this referral, and I hope and pray the DOJ comes through with an indictment and conviction of someone I would go so far as to consider a traitor for his actions.
