Trump administration setting records for deportations

The difference observed at the border between the Trump and Biden administrations is as stark as night and day.

Biden had months during his term in which there were more crossings than Trump may see in this entire year.

Democrats have been attacking Trump for this, claiming that he is arresting American citizens and non-criminal illegals, but the administration just proved them all wrong.

It’s not a crime

First, I want to address the claims made by people like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) that crossing the border illegally is not a crime.

On the first violation, a migrant is charged with a misdemeanor, which is still a crime, albeit a low-level one. But it’s a crime, nonetheless.

If such individuals are deported and come across the border again, they have committed a felony, and many of these illegals are repeat offenders.

Yet, Crockett once stated, “It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally. It’s not a crime.” It’s just a lie, plain and simple. They truly think the American people are stupid.

Arresting Americans

Democrats are now calling for an investigation into the arrests of American citizens occurring during ICE raids.

Now, I don’t want to sound callous here, but that is unfortunately going to happen. When agents conduct raids, they often arrest everyone on site, and then they start to check records after the fact. I do not doubt that legal residents or citizens are caught up in this from time to time, but those who are will be released once their status or citizenship is confirmed.

Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles attacked the administration on this front, stating, “What is happening to undocumented immigrants is also happening to U.S. citizens, which means that this can happen to anyone, to all of us, at any period of time.”

People are sometimes mistakenly arrested in the real world, unfortunately. I am not excusing it, but that is the reality of the situation. And when you consider the minuscule percentage of people involved, this is not an overwhelming problem that the country is facing. Again, I wish the percentage of erroneous arrests could be zero, but that is not realistic in this type of operation.

Shattering records

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin announced this week that the administration is shattering previous deportation records and is projected to have removed more than 600,000 illegals by the end of the president's first year back in office, with an additional 1.6 million having left voluntarily.

McLaughlin continued, "In the face of a historic number of injunctions from activist judges, ICE, CBP, and the U.S. Coast Guard have made historic progress to carry out President Trump’s promise of arresting and deporting illegal aliens who have invaded our country."

That represents an amazing turnaround on the border, and it just goes to show that Joe Biden could have stopped the influx at any time, but he chose to keep the border open and allow millions upon millions of illegals to enter the country.

I know the deportation machine upsets a lot of people, even some on the right, but don’t include me in that group. I love it, and I want to see it continue, as this was one of my top three issues heading into the 2024 election cycle. It is exactly why I give Trump a bit more rope than I would any other politician. Above all else, we need to get this mess cleaned up, and Trump is doing an amazing job on that front.
