She’s in denial. A reporter really got under Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) skin today, with one simple fact-based question. Pelosi, who sounded like she may have had one martini too many at lunch today, went into a complete meltdown that is an instant classic. The former House speaker is clearly in denial. Watch video…
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is becoming a real problem for the Trump administration, as he continues to bash certain of its policies. He was not only the sole holdout among the GOP regarding the funding bill, but now he is openly claiming that Trump’s decision to have the government buy into Nvidia is leading the country toward socialism. Watch the video below to see his full comments…
Today’s thought of the day was one that I knew would get people stirred up, and boy, did it. We discussed a quote from James Madison that would suggest Trump’s moves to release the military on cities and his recent slew of executive orders were acts of tyranny, and we had nearly as many negative comments as we did comments in support of Trump.
Our comment backing Trump’s play comes from Roy A. from Honolulu, Hawaii, who stated:
“With all due respect to James Madison, he never had to deal with crime-ridden cities run by incompetent mayors or a Congress that does nothing but obstruct. We elected a man of action, not a philosopher."
“These aren't the actions of a tyrant; they are the actions of a leader who is finally cleaning up the mess that weak politicians have made for decades. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. I'll take results over rhetoric any day of the week.”
Now, I completely respect Roy’s comments except for one part… we don’t elect leaders in this country, we elect representation. As for the opposition to Trump’s moves, we have Eileen M. from Rochester, Minnesota, who stated:
“This is the warning we must heed. I'm as frustrated with crime and government inaction as anyone, but the ends cannot justify the means. That Madison quote is the very foundation of our Republic."
“Allowing any president, regardless of party, to accumulate this much power by ignoring the other branches of government is a fatal mistake. If we cheer for this today, we lose the right to complain when a future president we despise uses these same tactics against us. We are a nation of laws, not of men, and we forget that at our peril.”
I don’t believe Trump is a tyrant by any means, but as a strong constitutionalist, I am concerned about the moves he is making and the power he is trying to consolidate. Just remember the big picture here. Any powers that Trump solidifies during his time in office will be in play for Democrats whenever they take back the White House, and it terrifies me to think about what they will do when that time comes.
