I cannot remember a time like we have seen over the last few weeks of horrific, violent political attacks that have caused a loss of life.
First, it was Charlie Kirk’s assassination, then the attack on ICE in Dallas.
Even so, Dems are continuing to spew their rhetoric, and now President Donald Trump just joined in, but he will be the one that is put in the spotlight by the media over what was said.
I am still stunned by the fact that Kirk was assassinated simply for engaging in open debate.
Kirk, as I have stated before, had no problem taking on difficult topics, and he often had his quotes taken out of context, and when it comes to hot-button subjects, people can easily be misled.
Then there was this week's Dallas ICE shooting, which was also, at least in my opinion, a product of Democrats badmouthing the agents for simply doing their jobs.
In this case, the shooter missed his target and hit the detainees, then took his own life as authorities were moving in.
I have taken considerable flak in the past for saying that this is what I think Democrats have wanted all along, as I just saw no other endgame to the endless rhetoric spewed by public officials. And yes, Trump and Republicans also toss around their own rhetoric, but it amounts to little more than calling the opposition “stupid,” “low-IQ,” and the “radical left.” Nobody is calling Democrats Nazis, Gestapo, or fascists, groups some might interpret as posing threat to the future of this country.
Dems are not stopping, even after the recent shootings. For example, Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-IL) recently stated, "I’ve joined the Illinois delegation in demanding answers about DHS's dangerous and reckless operations in our state. We refuse to stand by while masked agents trample on due process, indiscriminately arrest our neighbors, and threaten immigrant communities."
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) accused ICE agents of "picking up moms as they drop off their kids to daycare or people going to work." Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL) accused ICE of using “Gestapo tactics,” and California Gov. Gavin Newsom just signed legislation to ban ICE from wearing masks during raids, challenging them as to what they needed to hide as they gathered up black and brown people in these raids.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) accused ICE agents of using a five-year-old little girl as bait to catch her father. The girl had actually been abandoned by her dad. Omar wrote, "This is vile and beyond cruel. Abolish ICE." Another Squad member, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), claimed ICE agents are "terrorizing our communities to the point that students are too afraid to go to school."
Now, I get the frustration with Trump over what is happening, but the last thing he can afford to do is give any perception that he is encouraging people on the right to respond in kind to these violent attacks, but he recently did just that.
Trump stated, “The radical left is causing the problem. They’re out of control. They’re saying things, and they’re really dumb people, and I look at [Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine] Crockett, I look at some of these people that are very low-IQ people, actually. But the radical left is causing this problem, not the right. It’s going to get worse, and ultimately it’s going to go back on them.”
The president continued, “I mean, bad things happen when they play these games. And I’ll give you a little clue: The right is a lot tougher than the left, but the right is not doing this, they’re not doing it, and they better not get them energized, because it won’t be good for the left. I don’t want to see that happen either.”
Even though the Dems have been encouraging violence against the right for years, those words by Trump will be used by the Dems to attack the president by saying he is telling MAGA to go on the offensive. They will cut that quote down to, “It won’t be good for the left,” and if an attack does happen, they will point to Trump as the cause. He has to be careful, and he has to be better than providing a comment that the media can use against him. Again, I understand his point, and I agree with him, but as Donald Trump, the Republican president, he just cannot say such things.
