Democrats have been on the attack against ICE for years.
People like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) want to see the agency disbanded, while others have portrayed it as the modern version of Nazi Germany.
Point being, critics are getting the liberal horde all wound up, and their efforts have worked, as ICE agents were chased off the scene of a recent raid.
During a recent appearance, failed vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz likened ICE to the Gestapo.
After that statement, acting-ICE Director Todd Lyons responded, “On the final day of National Police Week -- when those brave enough to put on a badge and a uniform mourn their fallen brothers and sisters -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz referred to my professional, hard-working ICE agents and officers as ‘modern-day Gestapo.’ This abhorrent, dehumanizing and ignorant comment should not be tolerated.”
He continued, “It seems that Mr. Walz prefers violent criminal aliens are released into Minnesota’s communities. If the governor doesn’t like the laws, he’s free to advocate that Congress change them, but he should refrain from putting ICE officers in danger by likening them to one of the most appalling groups in history.”
His statement concluded, “Assaults against ICE officers are up over 400% from this time period last year, and part of that is because politicians like Gov. Walz are careless with their politically motivated rhetoric. He should issue an immediate apology to the men and women protecting his communities.”
AOC has been campaigning on abolishing ICE, virtually ever since she took office.
With Trump back in the White House, her attacks have increased, and she sent out a recent fundraising email, stating, "I believe that ICE, an agency that was just formed in 2003 during the Patriot Act era, is a rogue agency that should not exist.”
All of these attacks have inspired members of the liberal horde to feel as though they have the right to interfere with immigration raids, openly attacking ICE agents and other federal officers.
We have seen a dramatic rise in attacks against ICE agents compared to last year, which were up 700% as of July, with DHS more recently stating that attacks have now increased by more than 1000% compared to the same period last year.
During a recent workplace raid in New York, ICE agents were collecting alleged illegal immigrants who were working on a roofing project.
The agents were able to get one down from the roof, but the rest refused to come down, all while a small crowd gathered to protest the arrests (for the record, this is a very high-paying job, as the average roofing worker makes about $32 per hour in New York).
A multi-hour standoff ensued, with protesters yelling “shame” and “Gestapo” at the agents, as well as slashing the tires on their vehicles. Agents were quickly outnumbered, as it was reported that more than 100 people had gathered, so the agents were forced to retreat and leave before arresting the rest of the workers.
The Western New York Coalition of Farmworker Serving Agencies was reportedly behind the standoff, with coalition Executive Director Irene Sanchez stating, "The coalition is committed to standing alongside farmworkers, immigrants, and migrants to ensure dignity, fairness, and access to justice.” If these people are legal, I have zero problem with them working these jobs, but if they are illegals, they are taking an exceptionally well-paying job away from legal residents and American citizens. If you ask me, the coalition should be prosecuted for inciting a riot against federal law enforcement, but since this happened in New York, it will never happen.
