Brooklyn leaders circumvent AOC with appeal to FBI director

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be the darling of the Democratic Party, but she is more a social media star than she is a legislator.

There are non-stop complaints about the congresswoman ignoring her constituents, yet they continue to vote for her because nobody primaries her, and New Yorkers refuse to back a Republican.

As more complaints flow in and residents express their frustration, local Brooklyn leaders are going right over AOC’s head to appeal to the director of the FBI to shut down known brothels that are destroying their neighborhood.

Heckled

AOC is now upsetting people on both sides of the aisle, as a recent town hall turned to chaos when pro-Palestine protesters interrupted her event.

While the lawmaker was speaking, a woman shouted, “I am a health care worker, and I want to know what you’re doing about the genocide in Gaza.”

The crowd erupted in boos, which is rather shocking considering the woman was expressing support for Palestine and Gaza, causes AOC has openly supported. The woman continued to yell amid the boos, “I’m a nurse! Shame on you! Shame on you, you’re a liar. You’re a liar!”

As the woman was being removed from the event, she continued to yell, “You’re a war criminal! War criminal! War criminal! Shame on you, I used to support you!”

She’s done nothing

AOC is famous for running these town halls when complaints start to fly that she is an absentee representative, and the timing of this one was very suspect. But it also did not stop residents from complaining about her.

After the town hall, residents continued to say that her local office hours are lacking, and AOC does nothing to help them, with many finding it difficult to get an appointment to talk to her in person.

Queens resident Lauro Vazquez stated, “This woman has done nothing for the community she was once again elected to serve.”

Maybe that is because AOC has been busy with Sen.Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on his ending oligarchy tour, which is being perceived as a way to raise Ocasio-Cortez's profile for higher office, perhaps even a presidential run in 2028.

Taking matters into their own hands

Local leaders in AOC's district are sick and tired of her rock-star persona, so they are now taking matters into their own hands to make a direct appeal to FBI Director Kash Patel in an effort to shut down a local brothel.

AOC has previously expressed support for sex workers, even though prostitution is illegal in this country. As such, the efforts of the Restore Roosevelt Avenue Coalition have apparently fallen on deaf ears. The group's members are trying to clean up the Roosevelt Avenue Corridor, but AOC has done nothing to help them.

So, members of the coalition wrote directly to Patel to ask for their help, stating, "We are writing to your agency again, requesting an investigation and enforcement action regarding the ever-worsening situation on the Roosevelt Avenue Corridor.”

This is not the first time people have appealed directly to Patel, with the first instance coming in April regarding gang activity, with eight arrests eventually being made. I would love to see Patel step in here, if legally possible, and make a big media scene about any results achieved. This administration needs to make it clear, if Dems won’t help you, we will, and we will not be afraid to step on toes to do so if that is what residents want to see.
