The bounty. Several FBI raids have been conducted since Donald Trump took office, with Democrats rallying around the subjects, saying this is all the weaponization of the DOJ against the president's enemies. Topics have been pretty politically oriented lately, so I wanted to switch gears and address something that, personally, drives me nuts… lane-splitting. I have seen some gnarly accidents on the road, and I see tons of videos like this on the internet, with motorcyclists acting as though it is the passenger car driver who is at fault. Not only is this guy breaking the law, but he is doing so at a high rate of speed, leaving little reaction time. What do you guys think about lane splitting, and who do you think is at fault? Today’s “thought” was about fiscal accountability and how we, as voters, fail to hold our political officials accountable for mishandling our taxpayer dollars. Today’s reader comment comes from Edward P. from Omaha, Nebraska, who stated:
“The answer to your question is simple, yet infuriating. In the real world, if a business wastes money, it fails. If a family lives beyond its means, it goes bankrupt. There is real accountability. But in Washington, there are no consequences for failure. In fact, politicians are often rewarded for wasteful spending because it allows them to promise ‘free’ things to voters, using other people's money."
“That Coolidge quote calls it ‘legalized robbery,’ and that's exactly what it feels like every time I look at my paycheck. They steal from the productive to buy the loyalty of the dependent.”
I could not have said it better myself, Edward, and I appreciate your feedback. Keep sending in the comments, as we love to hear back from all of our readers, liberal and conservative, because unlike other publications, we are NOT afraid of the debate.
