Video of the Night

In our first report of the day, we stated that Illinois Democrats are more interested in scoring political points than they are in helping their constituents and protecting them from criminals. This rant by Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is a perfect example, as he lies repeatedly to get the crowd riled up rather than address the violent crime in his city that just took the lives of eight people over the holiday weekend…

Reader Comment of the Day

Our “thought” today was about rewarding hard work, not penalizing it, as Democrats wish to do as evidenced by the “equity” narrative they push. Our comment today comes from Pam G. from Boise, Idaho, who responded:

“To answer your question: You don't. You can't convince someone who has been promised a free lunch that they'd be better off cooking their own meal. As a small business owner, I see this mindset all the time. The Left talks about wealth as if it's a static pile of money to be divided up. They completely ignore the risk, sacrifice, and innovation it takes to create that wealth in the first place—not to mention the jobs that are created for the community."

“Reagan was right; we are the engine. But it's hard to keep that engine running when the government is constantly trying to siphon your fuel to give to people who won't even start their own car.”

Thanks for the comment, Pam. I know that in my dealings with people, even those who are down on their luck, they are far more often looking for opportunities than handouts. Or, as my one friend calls it, “a helping hand up, not a handout.” If you breed for success, you will see success. If you breed laziness, you get a generation that votes for freebies instead of opportunities. Sadly, these very people don’t seem to realize that nothing comes for free, and what people like Zohran Mamdani and AOC are proposing would wind up costing them their freedom.
