For years, George Soros has been a mega-donor for the Democratic Party, affiliated organizations, and issue campaigns.
However, reports have also tied him to the funding of protest groups, especially during the BLM rioting of 2020.
Now, President Donald Trump wants to see him charged, so there could be a major standoff between the DOJ and Soros in the offing.
Soros is believed to have been behind many of the protests we have seen supporting Democrat-led causes in this country, including some of those that have resulted in upheaval and destruction.
The media has often written these claims off as conspiracy theories, which I will get into in a second, but Soros was also recently tied to anti-Israel protests initiated during the Biden administration.
Politico ran a report claiming that Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, two groups that led some of these protests, were funded by the Tides Foundation, which is party-funded by Soros.
Matan Arad-Neeman, deputy communications director for IfNotNow, responded to the report, “The campus protests are driven by young people’s outrage at the US’s complicity in the horrors in Gaza.” He continued, “To suggest that Jewish organizations, backed by Jewish funders, are pulling the strings behind the protesters is antisemitic, full stop.”
A report in the Los Angeles Times tried to pour water on all the reports that have emerged about Soros groups funneling cash to organizations that backed these these protests.
The report claimed, “George Soros, the billionaire investor and philanthropist who has long been a target of conspiracy theories, is being falsely accused of orchestrating and funding the protests over police killings of Black people that have roiled the United States."
It continued, "Amplified by a growing number of people on the far right, including some Republican leaders, online posts about Soros have skyrocketed in recent weeks.”
Laura Silber, chief communications officer for Soros’ philanthropic group Open Society Foundations, responded to the reports, “I think partly it’s an attempt to distract from the real matters at hand -- the pandemic, the protests or the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s pretty demeaning to the people out there protesting when someone says they’re all paid. It’s insulting.”
Trump is looking to drop the hammer on Soros, but if he gets the DOJ to move forward on this, it had better have its ducks in a row because Soros has billions behind him.
The president posted to Truth Social, “These accusations are outrageous and false. The Open Society Foundations do not support or fund violent protests. Our mission is to advance human rights, justice, and democratic principles at home and around the world.”
He continued, "We stand for fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including the rights to free speech and peaceful protest that are hallmarks of any vibrant democracy.”
If they have the proof, I am all for Trump going after Soros for purposely creating havoc in this country and funding these protests. We are seeing these protestors for hire again now amid the federalization of D.C., and it is a practice typically seen only when we have a Republican in the White House. I think the entire country would love to see this put to an end, but can they prove it… that is always the question.
